Volunteers Needed for Research Study – Ongoing until Oct. 2023
We would like to invite you to participate in a research study to provide your preferences for data collection and sharing practices of healthcare IoT devices. We are looking for adults (18 years of age and older) who currently live in the United States to complete a 15-20 minute survey. This research study seeks to understand individuals' preferences for healthcare IoT data collection and sharing practices. Our research team hopes to provide insight to system designers and manufacturers to improve the design and implementation of data collection and sharing practices of healthcare IoT devices.
Winter Wishes
N.C. A&T will sponsor children placed in Guilford County foster care this holiday season by providing gifts (wishes) to 200 children. Each child has identified up to three wishes to be provided by our university community. Please sign up to grant a wish by Nov. 30. Wishes should be delivered to the Deese Clock Tower on Dec. 2 between noon and 3 p.m. Please remember that wishes should be new, unwrapped and labeled with the name of the child. Clear Bag Policy for Harrison Auditorium
In an effort to enhance public safety, Harrison Auditorium has modified its security policy by limiting the size and style of bags allowed in the Auditorium. Approved Bags • Clear Tote – Plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12″x6″x12″ • Plastic Storage Bag – Clear, one (1) gallon, resealable • Small Clutch Purse – Approximately the size of a hand with or without a handle or strap. No larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″ with or without a handle or strap. Can be carried separately or within an approved plastic bag.
An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at a gate designated for this purpose. Please limit the number of items you bring to the facility on event days.
Prohibited items include, but are not limited to: • All purses, bags or containers larger than a small clutch bag • Backpacks • Binocular case – Binoculars may be worn around the neck • Briefcases • Camera bags • Cinch bags • Computer bags • Coolers • Fanny packs • Luggage of any kind • Seat Cushions
Diabetes Speaker Series - Call for Presentations (monthly, ongoing)
Our campus Diabetes Speaker Symposium is officially recruiting individuals to lead monthly research talks. We would like to hear from faculty and/or student researchers who can provide a 30-45-minute presentation during the AY 2022-2023. Topics can range from diabetes research, to social/ psychological/behavioral determinants of health, to methodologies used in diabetes related research. Spring and Summer 2023 Course Advisement and Registration – Oct. 10-Nov. 28
Advisement for spring and summer 2023 begins on October 10, 2022. Students should contact their faculty advisor to schedule an appointment to discuss courses that should be taken based on their curriculum guide. Students must obtain their alternate pin from their faculty advisor and/or department chairperson.
Registration begins on Oct. 31. Students are allowed to register based on their earned credit hours. Monday, Oct. 31 – Graduate Students and Seniors (90 or more earned credit hours) Tuesday, Nov. 1 – Juniors (60 – 89 earned credit hours) Wednesday, Nov. 2 – Sophomores (30 – 59 earned credit hours) Thursday, Nov. 3 – Freshmen (less than 30 earned credit hours)
When registering for classes, all students are required to OPT IN or OPT OUT of AggieAlert!, the university’s emergency notification system that sends text messages to your phone in the event of emergencies, life-threatening situations and/or inclement weather. Failure to opt-in or opt-out prior to class registration will result in a hold being placed on student accounts. To prevent an account hold, log into Aggie Access/Aggie Alert and follow the instructions.
Registration closes on Monday, Nov. 28.
Quality Enhancement Plan Graduate Assistants
During the fall 2022 semester, Quality Enhancement Plan: Toward Enhanced Achievement in Mathematics (QEP: TEAM) graduate assistants are tutoring students enrolled in MATH 101, 102, 103, 104, 110, 111, 112, and 131. The purpose of QEP: TEAM is to improve student success in eight general education mathematics courses. Graduate assistants tutoring program is part of the QEP: TEAM student support initiative. Lovie Matthews tutors in the Bluford Library on the 2nd Floor in Room 5 each week on Monday 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., Wednesday 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 to 6 p.m., Thursday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Friday 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Amel Hamidouche tutors online through Upswing (Upswing Tutoring) each week on Monday 4:30 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Thursday 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.

As gas tax that supports a well-functioning transportation system has become unsustainable over the last decade, the Eastern Transportation Coalition, a partnership of 17 states and Washington D.C., needs your help to explore an alternative approach, called a Mileage-Based User Fee (MBUF), where each driver pays for the miles they drive instead of the fuel they buy.
To better understand how an MBUF program could work, the Coalition is conducting a FREE Pilot Program in North Carolina and they want N.C. A&T students, faculty, and staff to join and tell them their perception of MBUF and its impact on our communities. Please see more information and sign up on this link. Students are required to have health insurance either by remaining on their parents’ insurance or buying an individual insurance plan. Students without insurance may purchase the Student Blue Student Health Insurance. Students will be automatically billed (on tuition account) and enrolled in the Student Blue coverage, unless a waiver is completed by the semester due date Sept. 12.
University Writing Center Hours and Services Offered
The University Writing Center, located in the General Classroom Building, Room 309, is currently open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. and Sunday (virtually) from 2-6 p.m.
The UWC assists students with organization, development, audience awareness, sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, citations, and other writing concepts for all types of writing in all classes. Students may schedule an appointment at www.ncat.mywconline.com or may visit the UWC for walk-in assistance. The UWC assists faculty by providing course-imbedded tutors, delivering presentations, and facilitating workshops. Additionally, writing consultants will visit classrooms to introduce the UWC to students. Faculty and staff should email the UWC at uwc@ncat.edu to request services. They may also call the UWC at 336-285-3531.
COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination/Boosters Available
The A.V. Blount Jr. Student Health Center is available for COVID-19 testing Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
COVID-19 vaccines are also available at the Student Health Center Pharmacy Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 2-4 p.m. daily.
TogetherAll - Student SupportCounseling Services has partnered with an online service called TogetherAll to provide 24/7 support to students. Students can register with their Aggie email, provide quick demographical information (can also remain anonymous) and in 3 minutes have access to a counselor at any time. The service also provides mental health resources, peer support communities, creative outlets and more.

Learn STEM Skills and Credentials with Digital Badge Program
N.C. A&T is starting a digital badge program, funded by the National Science Foundation, to enable undergraduate students to increase their STEM skills through mentorship programs, experiential learning activities, research opportunities, scholarships, and more.
The ASETTS program will connect students to researchers, professionals, and alumni from STEM‐related fields currently working in transportation careers and give students extra credentials to increase their marketability and secure employment after graduation.

The virtual “Write to Change the World” workshops are organized and facilitated by The OpEd Project – a think tank and leadership organization that accelerates the ideas and impact of underrepresented voices with stunning results.
The Division of Academic Affairs is offering 30 members of our faculty community the opportunity to take part in this once in a lifetime event!
WHY YOUR PARTICIPATION MATTERS: Through this initiative North Carolina A&T State University will expand the pool of thought leaders and provide a new platform for increasing scholarship to continue shedding light on issues impacting marginalized communities.

All accepted applicants will be notified via email by 5 p.m. on Nov. 28. If you are selected to participate, then you will receive a pass that allows you to choose the virtual workshop that works best for you from several options over the coming months. Transgender Awareness Week 2022 – Nov. 14-18
In honor of Transgender Awareness Week (Nov. 14-18), the Office of Intercultural Engagement & LGBTA Resource Center will host the Famous Transgender Figures Exhibit! The exhibit will highlight famous figures in art, fashion, television, sports, acting, science, and more within the LGBTQIA+ community!
The exhibit will kick off on Monday, Nov. 14, from 4-6 p.m. with a reception in the Student Center, Deese Ballroom. The week-long exhibit is free and located in the Student Center, Room 213 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Fulbright Program Grant Session, Meet & Greet – Nov. 17
Learn more about the Fulbright U.S. Student Program grant (“Fulbright Program grant”) during a nationwide virtual information session with break-out rooms for each participating institution on Thursday, Nov. 17 from 4-5 p.m.
Grantees can be fully funded to work, study or help teach English when they travel to and live for 8-10 months in one of 140+ countries.

The University Writing Center presents two workshops as part of the “Demystifying Academic Writing, Part II.”
“The Comma & The Period” workshop will be held from 10-10:50 a.m.
Additionally, the “Citing Sources in MLA & APA Styles” workshop will be held from 2:30-3:15 p.m.
Both workshops will be located in the General Classroom Building Auditorium (A218).

Computing and Research Tools Workshop at North Carolina A&T State University – Dec. 2
An interactive virtual workshop designed to provide faculty with an overview of the latest computational and data visualization tools currently available at NC A&T and how these tools can be utilized in various types of interdisciplinary studies. In addition, faculty will gain insight into the growing collection of research tools, databases and services available at Bluford Library to support research, teaching and community engagement.
Finally, faculty will gain awareness about the types of research labs that are currently open to faculty and the process for becoming an authorized user of
each.
This 90-minute interactive workshop is open to faculty, research staff and graduate students.

Watch A Brief Introduction to Center for Advanced Transportation Mobility (CATM) to learn more about the center and its efforts. Maranda McBride, Ph.D., professor of management and CATM director, explains the research, education, workforce development, and technology activities sponsored by CATM to accomplish the goal of identifying and disseminating solutions that address mobility challenges associated with the movement of both people and goods as well as other critical transportation issues.
