N.C. A&T Human Rights Medal - Call for Nominations

Nominations are open for Human Rights Medal. The award is presented to an individual who has had a positive impact on correcting social injustices and other humanitarian activities. The winner will be notified in December and will be invited to accept the award at the Annual Sit-In Breakfast marking the anniversary of the N.C. A&T Sit-In Movement. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022. The deadline for nominations is Monday, Dec.r 6, 2021. University Police Department Satisfaction Survey
In order to ensure that the N.C. A&T State University Police Department is providing the service our community wants and deserves, we ask you to evaluate us by completing a brief survey by Nov. 30. Your answers will be kept confidential to the extent permitted by law. Thank you, in advance, for taking the time to provide feedback on our performance as an agency.

Flu Vaccine Available at Student Health Center
The Student Health Center is now offering the flu shot for this upcoming winter months! We have received our first shipment of 100 doses. Please come by or schedule an appointment with the Student Health Center during clinic and pharmacy business hours, 8 a.m.-7 p.m. The Student Health Center will be receiving more flu vaccines later in the month.
Please be advised that upon receiving the shot your insurance will be billed.

SHRA Mandatory Infromation Security Training
The university is required to provide information security awareness training each year. Traing for SHRA employees will begin Tuesday, Oct. 19. Topics will include information technology policies, fundamental security knowledge, common cyber security threats, social engineering red flags, WiFi security, social media sharing and phishing prevention. This training is mandatory for all SHRA employees. The training is self-paced and each module can be paused and resumed. After module is completed, employees will be able to downloada certificate of completion. The deadline to complete training is June 30, 2022. Learn STEM Skills and Credentials with Digital Badge Program
N.C. A&T is starting a digital badge program, funded by the National Science Foundation, to enable undergraduate students to increase their STEM skills through mentorship programs, experiential learning activities, research opportunities, scholarships, and more. The ASETTS program will connect students to researchers, professionals, and alumni from STEM‐related fields currently working in transportation careers and give students extra credentials to increase their marketability and secure employment after graduation.

Chancellor’s Speaker Series "Mind Over Matter" - Nov. 16
The first Chancellor's Speaker Series for the 2021-22 academic year, “Mind over Matter,” will be Tuesday, Nov. 16, 6 p.m., in Harrison Auditorium. Track and field Olympic medalist and world champion Allyson Felix will discuss the power of a healthy and strong mind, overcoming adversity and brand building, moderated by N.C. A&T alumnus and Oscar-wining producer Terrence J (Terrence Jenkins) ’04.

The speaker series is free and open to the public. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis at the University Ticket Office. Masks will be required and all attendees must provide either proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test within the previous 72 hours of the event date. A valid ID must accompany either option. Failure to comply will result in the attendee being refused entry to the event.

CEd Celebrates American Education Week With Activities and Speaker Series

The College of Education will celebrate American Education Week Nov. 15 – 19. The college will celebrate A&T faculty, students and community partners with College of Education Equity, Access, and Advocacy Awards. Additionally, as a culminating event the college will host world renown scholar Dr. Cynthia Dillard, as the inaugural speaker for the College of Education Dean’s Equity, Access, and Advocacy Speaker Series. The conversation, “The Spirit of our work: Black Teachers (Re)Member,” will take place Friday, Nov. 19, 4 p.m., Proctor Hall 160. This will be Dr. Dillard’s book launch and first stop on her national book tour. A reception and book signing will follow the lecture in the Proctor Hall lobby.

National Transgender Awareness Week 2021: Famous Transgender People Exhibit - Nov. 15 – 19
In recognition of National Transgender Awareness Week 2021, join the Office of Intercultural Engagement and the LGBTA Resource Center for a Famous Transgender People Exhibit. A reception will be held for the exhibit kickoff on Nov. 15 from 4-6 p.m. in the Student Center, Room 222. Following the kickoff, the exhibit will be viewable in the Student Center, Room 213 Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The Soul of Christmas: A Holiday Musical Revue
The Soul of Christmas is a finger snapping, foot tapping, hand clapping holiday musical for the whole family. Directed and conceived by Gregory J. Horton, this high-energy production is destined to become the holiday gift that keeps on giving. Performances will be held at Paul Robeson Theatre on the campus of NC A&T State University, for tickets call 336-334-7749 or visit www.ncataggies.com. Seating will be limited to practice social distancing and masks are required for audiences and all front of house staff.

A Talk by Bryan Stevenson, author of 'Just Mercy' - Nov. 17
The Text-in Community Program is pleased to announce a virtual presentation by Bryan Stevenson, author of this year’s text, "Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption." Join us on Wednesday, Nov.17, 5-6:15 p.m., for a conversation with Stevenson on race, poverty and the criminal justice system in the U.S. Stevenson is the founder of the Equal Justice Initiative which works to end mass incarceration and excessive punishments and challenge racial and economic injustice. HBCU-UP DSA Project, NCAT EO Goldwater Scholarship LOR Writer Workshop - Nov. 17

Register and learn tips for writing a strong and compelling letter of recommendation (LOR) for your current or future Aggie or Maroon Tiger Goldwater Scholarship applicant!The Goldwater Scholarship Program is one of the oldest and most prestigious national scholarships in the natural sciences, engineering, and mathematics in the United States. It seeks to identify and support college sophomores and juniors who show exceptional promise of becoming America's next generation of research leaders in these fields.This workshop will be led by a Goldwater Scholarship national reviewer from Morehouse College and by N.C. Three Centers of Excellence will host a virtual joint research symposium Nov. 19 from 9-11 a.m. The event will feature remarks and presentations from the Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity, Research, Education and Outreach, the Center of Excellence in Entrepreneurship and Innovation and the Center of Excellence in Product Design and Advanced Manufacturing. HBCU-UP DSA Project, NCAT EO Truman Scholarship LOR Writer Workshop - Nov. 19

Register and create a template for a strong and compelling letter of recommendation (LOR) for your current or future Aggie Truman Scholarship applicant! This workshop will be led by the Deputy Executive Secretary for the Truman Scholarship and by N.C. A&T State University's Truman Representative.The Truman Foundation is America's official living memorial to its thirty-third president and the presidential monument to public service. The hallmark of the Foundation’s work is the Truman Scholarship, the premier graduate fellowship in the United States for those pursuing careers as public service leaders. Registration link    

Winter Wishes in Aggieland - Dec. 3
North Carolina A&T State University is hosting Winter Wishes in Aggieland as a drive-thru event on Dec. 3. The university is sponsoring holiday gifts (wishes) for 200 children placed in the Guilford County foster care system. SignUpGenius will be used to distribute wishes. This tool will allow members of the university community to select one or more wishes to grant. Please sign up to grant a wish via SignUpGenius by Tuesday, Nov. 30.
Wishes should be dropped off on Dec. 3, between noon and 3 p.m., at the drive-thru Winter Wishes in Aggieland event. Participants will drive around the Deese Clock Tower to drop off their new and unwrapped wish(es) and pick up a thank you gift and treat.

Thank you for participating in this event to support foster children in Guilford County.

Virtual Safe Zone Ally Development Trainings

A virtual Safe Zone Ally Development Training session will take place on Nov. 30 and Dec. 3 . Both training sessions will start at 10 a.m. via Zoom. Safe Zone Trainings emphasize on providing information that is relevant to promoting a healthy and safe campus community by creating allies.
