FY22 Year-end Closeout Procedures for Various Areas

As we approach year end, please be advised the collapse of State Funds will be Friday, May 13, 2022. State funds will be collapsed effective Friday, May 13, 2022. Please be reminded that the collapse process is applicable to state funds only.
Accounts exempt from collapse:
Travel -account 73100
Communications -account 73200
Maintenance -account 74400
These accounts are exempt ONLY for planned travel, communication, and maintenance expenditures after the May 13 collapse. Overhead, contracts and grants and auxiliary fund budgets are not affected by the collapse. Please refer to FY2022 Year End Close Memo for additional details and dates.

OASIS Student Service

 Counseling Services now promotes OASIS, an online application that assists with mental health. Users are able to increase awareness of mental health, decrease stigmas associated with mental health and gain access to additional mental health resources. OASIS offers the following:

Aggie Summer Scholarships

Aggie Summer Scholarships are available for students enrolled in a degree-seeking program and register for Summer Session I or II by April 25. The Scholarship covers tuition and fees only, up to six credit hours (not to exceed the cost of attendance) with no application required. Students may view their award via Aggie Access Online, beginning April 19. Awards are processed weekly until funding is exhausted. 

Call for Abstracts: Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference

We are calling for abstract submission for the 38th Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference (SBEC) 2022 that will be held in New Orleans. SBEC is one of the oldest scientific gathering of engineers, scientists and clinicians globally. The deadline for abstract submissions is May 15 and can be submitted here.
Students are eligible for numerous awards. For questions, please contact Dr. Narayan Bhattarai at nbhattar@ncat.edu

University Writing Center Hours and Services Offered
The University Writing Center, located in the General Classroom Building, Room 309, is currently open, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Students may walk-in during these hours or make an appointment online at ncat.mywcoline.com. Online help is also available from 9 a.m.-8 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Students can receive help with thesis development, essay and paragraph development, sentence structure, avoiding run-on sentences, comma splices, sentence fragments, grammar, punctuation, research essay writing, source citation, business writing, and personal statements along with any other writing needs.
The Writing Center also offers classroom visitations.
If you would like for a writing consultant to visit your classes to briefly introduce the UWC, please let us know. Campus Pool Now Open

The university's pool, located in Corbett Sports Center, is now open.
Recreational Swim is Monday – Friday, noon to 8 p.m.

COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination/Boosters Available
Testing is easy and free for students and employees, available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Alumni Foundation Event Center and the Blount Student Health Center. Vaccination and booster shots are also free and available at the Alumni Foundation Event Center and the Student Health Center Pharmacy. 

Flu Vaccine Available

The Student Health Center is now offering the flu shot for this upcoming winter months! Please come by the Student Health Center during our current business hours.
Pharmacy Hours- Mon- Fri: 8 a.m. to 5p.m.
Clinic Hours- Mon- Fri: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Please be advised that upon receiving the shot your insurance will be billed.

TogetherAll - Student Support

Counseling Services has partnered with an online service called TogetherAll to provide 24/7 support to students. Students can register with their Aggie email, provide quick demographical information (can also remain anonymous) and in 3 minutes have access to a counselor at any time. The service also provides mental health resources, peer support communities, creative outlets and more.

N.C. A&T Planning for In-Person Summer Camps

The university will return to in-person summer camp programs. As part of its risk management efforts, the university centralized the registration process for summer camps/sponsored programs. Faculty, staff, program directors, and other personnel organizing, leading, and managing these efforts must register all summer camps/sponsored programs through the Extended Campus via this link.
The Extended Campus supports the procedures for compliance with the Minors on Campus policy, which promotes the safety and well-being of minors entrusted to the University's care. All directors, camp personnel, and volunteers working with the camps will complete the mandatory online Protection of Minors Training. Women's Basketball Elite Camp - Registration Open Now

The Lady Aggies are holding Elite Camp on June 11 and June 18 at Corbett Sports Center!
Elite Camp is for those entering grades 8-12.
Registration is open now and is open to any and all entrants.

University Space Planning Committee Survey
The University Space Planning Committee welcomes your feedback regarding a potential addition to our campus. As N.C. A&T continues to improve our spaces on campus, we are committed to providing spaces that accommodate a diverse set of needs. In this regard, we are exploring lactation rooms to be used by students, faculty and staff with infants. A lactation space is a private, hygienic space for nursing mothers and infants. University Employee Recognition & Awards Program Nominations Open Now

Nominations are now open until May 20, 2022 for nominating a full-time permanent SHRA or EHRA Non-Faculty employee for the University Employee Recognition & Awards Program. Nominees should be submitted to the Division of Human Resources/Employee Relations. Tuition Assistance Transition
Office of Veteran & Military Affairs is now responsible, and will process Army DOD and the Tuition Assistance program. All students utilizing this program please contact our office at (336) 398-8651.

SHRA Mandatory Information Security Training

The university is required to provide information security awareness training each year. Training for SHRA employees began Oct. 19. Topics will include information technology policies, fundamental security knowledge, common cyber security threats, social engineering red flags, WiFi security, social media sharing and phishing prevention. This training is mandatory for all SHRA employees. The training is self-paced and each module can be paused and resumed. After module is completed, employees will be able to download a certificate of completion. The deadline to complete training is Thursday, June 30, 2022. Learn STEM Skills and Credentials with Digital Badge Program
N.C. A&T is starting a digital badge program, funded by the National Science Foundation, to enable undergraduate students to increase their STEM skills through mentorship programs, experiential learning activities, research opportunities, scholarships, and more. The ASETTS program will connect students to researchers, professionals, and alumni from STEM‐related fields currently working in transportation careers and give students extra credentials to increase their marketability and secure employment after graduation.

Aggie Talk Podcast
Aggie Talk is a resource for students and staff at North Carolina A&T State University. Aggie Talk does not take the place of clinical mental health treatment. This podcast is a resource. It is our hope that Aggie Talk introduces new concepts, inspires listeners to pursue professional help if necessary, and to be a catalyst for conversation surrounding mental health. Host Jovan Shumpert, MS, LCMHCA will discuss current events, mental health facts and experiences, and will be joined by colleagues to discuss their areas of expertise. The podcast is available on Spotify and Anchor!

Wealth Building Workshops
With Wealth Building, you’ll be on your way to making smarter financial decisions and creating an action plan that works for you. Open Educational Resources and Course Adopted Texts - May 3

While textbooks are free for our students for the next two academic years, now is the perfect time to plan to lower textbook costs in the future. Open educational resources (OERs) and Course Adopted Texts are great alternatives to traditional textbooks. Bluford Library invested in a product called Faculty Select to strengthen its commitment to helping faculty explore textbook alternatives and saving students money. Learn about how to use licensed library ebooks and openly licensed materials via Faculty Select instead of costly textbooks. This workshop will also present research demonstrating the quality and efficacy of OERs. Join us May 3, 3-4 p.m. Register here

Graduating Seniors- FREE Gift For YOU from Office of Career Services

The Office of Career Services is offering a GIFT of accomplishment to the May 2022 graduating class. In order to receive the gift, graduating seniors must complete their First Destination Survey (very brief survey) by May 6, click here.

Learn Arabic or Russian, or continue learning Chinese!

Start learning Arabic or Russian, or continue learning Chinese, in the new CLS Spark virtual program! CLS Spark participants will receive a stipend and will spend an academic year (2022-23) learning one of those three critical languages through online classes and activities facilitated by native speakers at a host institution abroad. They will also receive automatic consideration as semifinalists for the CLS Program’s 2023 overseas summer institutes, if they choose to apply.

The Perfect Fit- Search Process Workshop - May 18

In this highly interactive workshop, participants will engage with a research-based “living case study” to examine issues and identify best practices in search and hiring processes. Attendees will have an opportunity to explore complex motivations and biases through real-time interactions with the faculty characters. The facilitated discussion will conclude with proven best practices and strategies for fostering equity and transparency at all stages of the search process.

A Conversation with Nikole Hannah-Jones - May 21

Professor Nikole Hannah-Jones is the Pulitzer Prize-winning creator of "The 1619 Project," and staff writer at "The New York Times," Knight Chair in Race and Journalism at Howard University, and MacArthur Genius Award Winner. She will be in conversation with Dr. Jelani M Favors, the Henry E. Frye Distinguished Professor at N.C. A&T and award-winning author of "Shelter in a Time of Storm." It will be a wide-ranging discussion about Professor Hannah-Jones' work to chronicle "the decades-long failure of the federal government to enforce the landmark 1968 Fair Housing Act" and "The 1619 Project."
Tickets can be picked up at the following locations starting April 25: F.D. Bluford Library, Central Library, McGirt-Horton Branch Library and Vance H. Chavis Branch Library. Event will be livestreamed. Updates about the livestream and event will be found online and on F.D. Bluford Library social media.
