Flu Vaccine Available at Student Health Center
The Student Health Center is now offering the flu shot for this upcoming winter months! We have received our first shipment of 100 doses. Please come by or schedule an appointment with the Student Health Center during clinic and pharmacy business hours, 8 a.m.-7 p.m. The Student Health Center will be receiving more flu vaccines later in the month.
Please be advised that upon receiving the shot your insurance will be billed.

2022 Open Enrollment - Oct. 11-29
North Carolina A&T's Benefits Open Enrollment will be Oct. 11-29. Open Enrollment is your chance to choose the health plan coverage that best fits the needs of you and your family. SHRA Mandatory Infromation Security Training
The university is required to provide information security awareness training each year. Traing for SHRA employees will begin Tuesday, Oct. 19. Topics will include information technology policies, fundamental security knowledge, common cyber security threats, social engineering red flags, WiFi security, social media sharing and phishing prevention. This training is mandatory for all SHRA employees. The training is self-paced and each module can be paused and resumed. After module is completed, employees will be able to downloada certificate of completion. The deadline to complete training is June 30, 2022. Volunteers Needed - Community & Economic Engagement Summit
The Office of Community Engagement is seeking volunteers for the "Pathways to Economic Recovery" Community & Economic Engagement Summit on Oct. 27. This free gathering of entrepreneurs, community developers, policy makers and more will feature dynamic sessions and speakers and is open to the public. Learn STEM Skills and Credentials with Digital Badge Program
N.C. A&T is starting a digital badge program, funded by the National Science Foundation, to enable undergraduate students to increase their STEM skills through mentorship programs, experiential learning activities, research opportunities, scholarships, and more. The ASETTS program will connect students to researchers, professionals, and alumni from STEM‐related fields currently working in transportation careers and give students extra credentials to increase their marketability and secure employment after graduation.

Civic Engagement and Higher Education Workshop - Oct. 26
Civic Engagement and Higher Education is a workshop designed for individuals wanting to learn about the University’s public engagement through the Office of External Affairs and the Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement. The Office of External Affairs strives to promote North Carolina A&T so that representatives and leaders have a greater understanding of the University’s values and its impact on the City of Greensboro, the State of North Carolina, and the United States. The Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement strives to prepare students as leaders on campus and in the community. Are you applying for a research grant or beginning a research study? If you don’t have a Data Management Plan (DMP), you’re going to need one! All federal funding agencies now require DMPs. Join us Oct. 26, at3pm (Online), to see how data management planning improves the quality of your research project and benefits all members of the research team, as well as other scientists around the world. This workshop will cover the basics of comprehensive data management planning, including storage of and global access to your data. (Approximately 75 minutes) Register here.

Community & Economic Engagement Summit - Oct. 27
The N.C. A&T Office of Community Engagement will present its first Community and Economic Engagement Summit, “Pathways to Economic Recovery,” on Oct. 27.
The free, hybrid (in-person and virtual) summit is open to the public, and will focus on strategies that inform participants about the connectivity between building personal wealth via entrepreneurship and building healthier sustainable communities. The summit will feature a diverse slate of dynamic speakers – including North Carolina A&T faculty and alumni – as well as work sessions centered on entrepreneurship and several breakout panel discussions. The summit is designed for aspiring entrepreneurs and current business owners, community members, government officials who are involved in fiscal policy, and all members and friends of the Aggie family. Registration is under way, and all summit events will be shared on a virtual platform to allow for full participation.

Named in honor of the legendary civil rights attorney and LDF founder Thurgood Marshall, and iconic civil rights litigator Constance Baker Motley, the Marshall-Motley Scholars Program (MMSP) is a groundbreaking commitment to endow the South with the next generation of civil rights lawyers trained to provide legal advocacy of unparalleled excellence. Staff Senate will hold its full body meeting on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2 - 4 p.m. via Zoom.

All managers and supervisors should complete the Equal Employment Opportunity & Diversity Fundamentals (EEODF) course. The classroom training for EEODF will be on October 28th via Zoom. If you have received a manager or supervisor designation since April 2021, please sign-up for the required course on NEO. For a third year, the F. D. Bluford Library will host an open display of rare items from the historical collections of North Carolina A&T State University. Come for a chance to see rare objects and memorabilia from 130 years of North Carolina A&T History up close. Guided tours available at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., Oct. 28-Oct. 29.

CEE&I Homecoming Luncheon - Oct. 29
The CEE&I Homecoming Luncheon is destined to become one of NC A&T’s signature philanthropic events, raising funds to support the center and its ground-breaking works. This power-packed experience will provide A&T Business Leaders, local business owners, and alumni the opportunity to network, make connections, tour the facilities and learn more about CEE&I initiatives. This year’s program, Oct. 29, noon-1:30 p.m., will also celebrate the achievements and retirement of Dr. Thaddeus McEwen, Executive Director of the center. Location: Academic Classroom Building

End of Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration - Oct. 29
In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month 2021, the Office of Intercultural Engagement & Estamos Unidos will host an End of Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration. The event will take place on Friday, Oct. 29, in the Student Center, room 385, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Join us and network and learn about the diverse Latinx student communities on campus. Engage in an interactive panel discussion. There will be light refreshments and giveaways. 

Romantic Communication - every Wednesday
Romance is a way people choose to interact with each other whether or not the relationship is intimate. Come out to this 5 week group and learn some healthy communication skills. Groups will be held virtually on Wednesdays at 2 p.m., Oct. 13 - Nov. 10.   

Join A&T leaders and special guests on Nov. 2, 10:30-11:30 a.m., for the virtual launch of the university's Center of Excellence in Biotechnology. This is a partnership between the U.S. Army, Department of Defense, A&T's College of Engineering and College of Science and Technology, and Wake Forest Institute of Regenerative Medicine. Attendees are required to register in advance at this link.

Friday Nov. 5, the College of Engineering will host it’s 5th annual Fall Hackathon, Hack NCAT. This year’s theme is "The Last Entrepreneur." Students from various colleges, as well as the high schools on campus, will be invited to form teams, code, solve problems and compete for FABULOUS prizes. Friday's kickoff and corporate networking event (Hybrid, with students in person and companies in Zoom breakout rooms) will begin at 3:30 p.m. in McNair Hall, where students form teams, meet with the companies to discuss the problems, receive instructions, attend 'mini' workshops on a variety of relevant topics, and find spaces to begin to 'hack'. Dinner will be served. Saturday will be completely virtual.

Online Survey about Computer Use 
N.C. A&T and Elon University are collaborating on a research study. Participants fill out an online survey that asks questions about computer and internet use, presents some computer use scenarios, and asks about beliefs about getting things done. The study is approximately 15-25 minutes long, and compensation is provided. Must be ages 18-25 OR 65 years of age or older and access to a computer with internet connection to participate. To learn more, email elonmemorylab@gmail.com.

Community Engagement Training Survey
The Office for Community Engagement would like to invite faculty and staff members to participate in a short survey to identify how we can drive the university's commitment to positively impact the surrounding community. Your responses will be used to develop a set of community engagement training modules, beginning next semester. Please follow the link provided and share it with colleagues.

COVID-19 and Food Choices Study/Survey

Volunteers Needed For COVID-19 Study
Volunteers requested for a research study within the Social Work and Sociology Department at N.C. A&T. The purpose of this study is to explore the attitudes and concerns that A&T students have about romantic and sexual relationships during COVID-19. This study will also examine attitudes and perceptions about the COVID-19 vaccines. Qualified students will receive a $25 gift card for participating in a virtual interview.
