Flu Vaccine Available at Student Health Center
The Student Health Center is now offering the flu shot for this upcoming winter months! We have received our first shipment of 100 doses. Please come by or schedule an appointment with the Student Health Center during clinic and pharmacy business hours, 8 a.m.-7 p.m. The Student Health Center will be receiving more flu vaccines later in the month.
Please be advised that upon receiving the shot your insurance will be billed.

2022 Open Enrollment - Oct. 11-29
North Carolina A&T's Benefits Open Enrollment will be Oct. 11-29. Open Enrollment is your chance to choose the health plan coverage that best fits the needs of you and your family. SHRA Mandatory Infromation Security Training
The university is required to provide information security awareness training each year. Traing for SHRA employees will begin Tuesday, Oct. 19. Topics will include information technology policies, fundamental security knowledge, common cyber security threats, social engineering red flags, WiFi security, social media sharing and phishing prevention. This training is mandatory for all SHRA employees. The training is self-paced and each module can be paused and resumed. After module is completed, employees will be able to downloada certificate of completion. The deadline to complete training is June 30, 2022. Volunteers Needed - Community & Economic Engagement Summit
The Office of Community Engagement is seeking volunteers for the "Pathways to Economic Recovery" Community & Economic Engagement Summit on Oct. 27. This free gathering of entrepreneurs, community developers, policy makers and more will feature dynamic sessions and speakers and is open to the public. Learn STEM Skills and Credentials with Digital Badge Program
N.C. A&T is starting a digital badge program, funded by the National Science Foundation, to enable undergraduate students to increase their STEM skills through mentorship programs, experiential learning activities, research opportunities, scholarships, and more. The ASETTS program will connect students to researchers, professionals, and alumni from STEM‐related fields currently working in transportation careers and give students extra credentials to increase their marketability and secure employment after graduation.

Creating Work-life Balance in a Time of Remote Learning - Oct. 19
The "Creating Work-Life Balance and Personal Boundaries in a Time of Remote Learning" workshop is a collaborative event co-sponsored by the Digital Learning Faculty Fellows program (The Extended Campus), the ADVANCE Institutional Transformation (IT) Project and the Center for Teaching Excellence.
The workshop is designed to equip faculty, engaged in remote teaching, with strategies and tools for establishing and maintaining work-life balance as well as steps for creating personal/professional boundaries.  Tuesday, Oct. 19, 3:30 - 5 p.m. Register here.

Climate Change, Environmental Health, and Children's Health
Want to learn more about climate change and its effects on us all, including children? Can you make a contribution to stemming global warming or its effects? E-Publishing at Bluford Library - Oct. 19
Have you ever thought about publishing a monograph, starting a journal, or migrating your print publication to an online environment? Bluford Library can help! The Library can now support the publishing of online journals, monographs, newsletters, technical report series, white papers, and other publications. CSAM: Drip7 - Microlearning Cybersecurity by Gamification - Oct. 20
Heather Stratford, CEO of Drip7, will teach us how cybersecurity education is accessible to everyone via microlearning. "Art and Media: A Conversation with Kennedi Carter" and Master Class - Oct. 20&21
The University Galleries will host a virtual program, “Art and Media: A Conversation with Kennedi Carter,” Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 6 p.m. On Thursday, Oct. 21, at noon, artist Kennedi Carter will conduct a master class designed for students who are interested in navigating careers in the world of art, photography and media at the University Galleries. Carter, a Durham, North Carolina native, is a contemporary African American photographic artist known for her work that addresses race, gender and class. CSAM: Tech-Facilitated Abuse & the Modern Age of Domestic Violence - Oct. 21
Our partners from the Coalition Against Stalkerware will join us in a discussion, Oct. 21 at noon, about the devastating impact silent stalking applications have on their victims. We will be joined by Professor Nicola Dell, Assistant Professor at Cornell Tech and Co-Founder of the Clinic to End Tech Abuse to focus more broadly on the current state of tech abuse. The Director of N.C. A&T’s Cybersecurity Forensic Hub for Women (Cyber 911), Dr. Carla Coates, Interim Chair of Criminal Justice will lend her legal knowledge to these issues.

Manager/Supervisor SHRA Performance Appraisal Training – Oct. 21
To encourage the best performance from employees, managers and supervisors are encouraged to attend SHRA Performance Appraisal Training to get gain understanding and get tips on how to complete SHRA work plans and appraisals. The Hunger Games Food Drive - Oct. 22
The Peoples Administration will be having a "Hunger Games" food drive to support the Greensboro Urban Ministry Monday, Oct. 18 - Friday, Oct. 22. The drive is a "tabling" event which will take place daily 11 a.m. -2 p.m. at the Student Center - Academic Quad side where donation boxes will be set-up. The food drive is a challenge among the classes (i.e. Freshmen, Sophomore, etc.) and Mister and Miss Senior would like to include the Faculty and Staff on Friday, Oct. 22 to participate by making canned food donations.

Romantic Communication - every Wednesday
Romance is a way people choose to interact with each other whether or not the relationship is intimate. Come out to this 5 week group and learn some healthy communication skills. Groups will be held virtually on Wednesdays at 2 p.m., Oct. 13 - Nov. 10.   

"For Me" Series - every Tuesday
A five-part series, each one-hour group discussing a different topic including forgiveness, anxiety, depression, stress and self-care. This group is to focus on mental wellness and healing. Please join every Tuesday at 2 p.m., Sept. 14- Oct. 12.

 

Civic Engagement and Higher Education Workshop - Oct. 26
Civic Engagement and Higher Education is a workshop designed for individuals wanting to learn about the University’s public engagement through the Office of External Affairs and the Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement. The Office of External Affairs strives to promote North Carolina A&T so that representatives and leaders have a greater understanding of the University’s values and its impact on the City of Greensboro, the State of North Carolina, and the United States. The Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement strives to prepare students as leaders on campus and in the community. Community & Economic Engagement Summit - Oct. 27
The N.C. A&T Office of Community Engagement will present its first Community and Economic Engagement Summit, “Pathways to Economic Recovery,” on Oct. 27.
The free, hybrid (in-person and virtual) summit is open to the public, and will focus on strategies that inform participants about the connectivity between building personal wealth via entrepreneurship and building healthier sustainable communities. The summit will feature a diverse slate of dynamic speakers – including North Carolina A&T faculty and alumni – as well as work sessions centered on entrepreneurship and several breakout panel discussions. The summit is designed for aspiring entrepreneurs and current business owners, community members, government officials who are involved in fiscal policy, and all members and friends of the Aggie family. Registration is under way, and all summit events will be shared on a virtual platform to allow for full participation.

CEE&I Homecoming Luncheon - Oct. 29
The CEE&I Homecoming Luncheon is destined to become one of NC A&T’s signature philanthropic events, raising funds to support the center and its ground-breaking works. This power-packed experience will provide A&T Business Leaders, local business owners, and alumni the opportunity to network, make connections, tour the facilities and learn more about CEE&I initiatives. This year’s program, Oct. 29, noon-1:30 p.m., will also celebrate the achievements and retirement of Dr. Thaddeus McEwen, Executive Director of the center. Location: Academic Classroom Building

End of Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration - Oct. 29
In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month 2021, the Office of Intercultural Engagement & Estamos Unidos will host an End of Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration. The event will take place on Friday, Oct. 29, in the Student Center, room 385, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Join us and network and learn about the diverse Latinx student communities on campus. Engage in an interactive panel discussion. There will be light refreshments and giveaways.

Online Survey about Computer Use 
N.C. A&T and Elon University are collaborating on a research study. Participants fill out an online survey that asks questions about computer and internet use, presents some computer use scenarios, and asks about beliefs about getting things done. The study is approximately 15-25 minutes long, and compensation is provided. Must be ages 18-25 OR 65 years of age or older and access to a computer with internet connection to participate. To learn more, email elonmemorylab@gmail.com.

Community Engagement Training Survey
The Office for Community Engagement would like to invite faculty and staff members to participate in a short survey to identify how we can drive the university's commitment to positively impact the surrounding community. Your responses will be used to develop a set of community engagement training modules, beginning next semester. Please follow the link provided and share it with colleagues.

COVID-19 and Food Choices Study/Survey

This survey covers food choices, food security, and purchasing habits of NC residents post COVID-19. Responses are anonymous, no personal information is collected. It is an undergraduate research project, that can help inform producers, grocers, and assistance programs with the needs and desires of state residents.

Volunteers Needed For COVID-19 Study
Volunteers requested for a research study within the Social Work and Sociology Department at N.C. A&T. The purpose of this study is to explore the attitudes and concerns that A&T students have about romantic and sexual relationships during COVID-19. This study will also examine attitudes and perceptions about the COVID-19 vaccines. Qualified students will receive a $25 gift card for participating in a virtual interview. Blood Pressure Study
We are looking for African American men and women between the ages of 30-50 with normal and mild to moderately elevated BP to participate in a research study being conducted by Dr. Marc Cook in the Department of Kinesiology at North Carolina A&T. The research will examine the relationship between a short chain fatty acid, that is made in our colon by bacteria, on blood pressure (BP). Depending on whether you have high BP or not, your participation in the research will involve a total of 3-5 visits to A&T campus over a period of 2-3 weeks. The testing will include collecting information about your diet, a swab of a stool sample, measuring BP and blood levels of the short chain fatty acid related to BP. If you have moderately elevated BP, you will be asked to participate in a short intervention to increase the short chain fatty acid levels in your gut. All tests will be performed free of charge to you. You will be compensated for your participation.
