UNC Strategic Plan Virtual Town Hall - March 30
In January 2017, the Board of Governors of the University of North Carolina approved Higher Expectations, a five-year strategic plan for the UNC System. The plan called on the UNC System to achieve ambitious goals in access, student success, affordability and efficiency, economic impact and community engagement, and institutional excellence and diversity. As the current plan is set to expire in 2022, UNC System President Peter Hans has committed to refreshing the plan to continue to build on its original success over the next five years. Along with refreshed metrics in the original five thematic areas, the plan will also include a variety of new goals and metrics related to current initiatives in the UNC System. 
You are invited to share your feedback on the current plan’s goals and metrics as well as potential new goals and metrics at a virtual town hall at N.C. A&T on Wednesday, March 30, at 11 a.m.  The registration link is open with the ability to sign-up for a public comment slot. You must be registered to attend and to speak at the event.

Campus Pool Now Open
The university's pool, located in Corbett Sports Center, is now open.
Recreational Swim is Monday – Friday, noon to 8 p.m.

COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination/Boosters Available

Testing is easy and free for students and employees, available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Alumni Foundation Event Center, next door to the Student Health Center. Vaccination and booster shots are also free and available at the Alumni Foundation Event Center and the Student Health Center Pharmacy. 

Flu Vaccine Available

The Student Health Center is now offering the flu shot for this upcoming winter months! Please come by the Student Health Center during our current business hours.
Pharmacy Hours- Mon- Fri: 8 a.m. to 5p.m.
Clinic Hours- Mon- Fri: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Please be advised that upon receiving the shot your insurance will be billed.

Summer/Fall 2022 Course Advisement and Registration - begins March 14

Advisement for summer/fall 2022 begins on March 14. Students should contact their faculty advisor to schedule an appointment to discuss courses they should take based on your curriculum guide. Alternate pins are to be obtained from faculty advisor and/or department chairperson.
Registration begins on April 4 until April 25. Students can begin registering for classes based on their earned hours.
Monday, April 4 – Graduate Students and Seniors (90 or more earned credit hours)
Tuesday, April 5 – Juniors (60 – 89 earned credit hours)
Wednesday, April 6 – Sophomores (30 – 59 earned credit hours)
Thursday, April 7 – Freshmen (less than 30 earned credit hours)
When registering for classes, all students are required to OPT IN or OPT OUT of AggieAlert!, the university’s emergency notification system that sends text messages to your phone in the event of emergencies, life-threatening situations and/or inclement weather. Failure to opt-in or opt-out prior to class registration will result in a hold being placed on student accounts. To prevent an account hold, log into Aggie Access/Aggie Alert and follow the instructions.

Last Day to Withdraw from a Course without Grade Evaluation - March 28

The last day to withdraw from a course for spring 2022 without a grade evaluation is March 28,  at 5 p.m. The course withdrawal is available through the Student Hub. Once the form is completed, please follow up with your advisor regarding the course withdrawal. Approved courses withdrawals submitted after the deadline will NOT be accepted. Advisors must send your forms by March 28.Students CANNOT use this option to withdraw from ALL of their classes for the semester. To withdraw from all classes, students must use the official University Withdrawal form, available from registration@ncat.edu. The last day to withdraw from the university without a grade evaluation is April 7, 2022.

New Electronic Forms for University Events

The University Event Center would like to inform you that in the continued effort to provide a superior customer experience, multiple forms used in the process of reserving spaces on campus have been modernized and are now available electronically. Accessible from our main University Event Center page on the NCAT website, the Cancellation/Change Form, Online Username & Password Request Form, Student Center Reservation Request Form, Digital Display Board Request Form can all completed and submitted directly to our staff for processing. As you will see there are two options for our, one set that is accessible utilizing you university issued One-ID and one for individuals without a University issued One-ID.
Please note that reservations all forms will be processed within 2-3 business days, this will allow our office to execute the process most efficient way possible. Forms will be processed in the order they are received and event locations are available on a first come, first serve bases.

N.C. A&T Planning for In-Person Summer Camps

The university will return to in-person summer camp programs. As part of its risk management efforts, the university centralized the registration process for summer camps/sponsored programs. Faculty, staff, program directors, and other personnel organizing, leading, and managing these efforts must register all summer camps/sponsored programs through the Extended Campus via this link.
The Extended Campus supports the procedures for compliance with the Minors on Campus policy, which promotes the safety and well-being of minors entrusted to the University's care. All directors, camp personnel, and volunteers working with the camps will complete the mandatory online Protection of Minors Training. Advising Excellence Award Nominations are Now Open

The 2022 Advising Excellence Awards nomination period is now open! North Carolina A&T State University recognizes the dedication of undergraduate and graduate academic advisors and rewards their achievement via an annual awards process. Each year, one professional and one faculty advisor have the opportunity to receive this honor based on the recommendations of their peers and students.
Do you know an advisor that goes over and beyond to contribute to the success of our students? Nominate him/her today! Please contact Dr. Dawn M. University Space Planning Committee Survey
The University Space Planning Committee welcomes your feedback regarding a potential addition to our campus. As N.C. A&T continues to improve our spaces on campus, we are committed to providing spaces that accommodate a diverse set of needs. In this regard, we are exploring lactation rooms to be used by students, faculty and staff with infants. A lactation space is a private, hygienic space for nursing mothers and infants. The Provost's Award for Faculty Excellence in Undergraduate Research Mentoring

The Provost's Award for Faculty Excellence in Undergraduate Research Mentoring honors North Carolina A&T State University faculty who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment as mentors of N.C. A&T’s undergraduate students in research, scholarship or creative activities outside of normal course assignments.
Eligibility: N.C. A&T full-time faculty (tenure track and non-tenure track) 
Deadline: Nominators should indicate their intention to nominate a faculty colleague by Tuesday, March 1. All nomination materials should be submitted electronically by Tuesday, March 15. Nominations and materials should be submitted to worku@ncat.edu with “Undergraduate Research Mentor Award” in the subject line. Contact : worku@ncat.edu for further information.

Clinical Study Volunteers Needed
The Center of Excellence in Post Harvest Technologies located at the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis is looking for volunteers to participate in a clinical study. We are investigating how food plays an important part in our health and how the food is broken down after being eaten. You may qualify if your BMI is between 18-25 or 30-40, you are 18-65 years of age, and you are of African American decent. Participation involves completing a 5-day food diary and providing one stool sample collection. Tuition Assistance Transition
Office of Veteran & Military Affairs is now responsible, and will process Army DOD and the Tuition Assistance program. All students utilizing this program please contact our office at (336) 398-8651.

SHRA Mandatory Information Security Training

The university is required to provide information security awareness training each year. Training for SHRA employees began Oct. 19. Topics will include information technology policies, fundamental security knowledge, common cyber security threats, social engineering red flags, WiFi security, social media sharing and phishing prevention. This training is mandatory for all SHRA employees. The training is self-paced and each module can be paused and resumed. After module is completed, employees will be able to download a certificate of completion. The deadline to complete training is Thursday, June 30, 2022. Learn STEM Skills and Credentials with Digital Badge Program
N.C. A&T is starting a digital badge program, funded by the National Science Foundation, to enable undergraduate students to increase their STEM skills through mentorship programs, experiential learning activities, research opportunities, scholarships, and more. The ASETTS program will connect students to researchers, professionals, and alumni from STEM‐related fields currently working in transportation careers and give students extra credentials to increase their marketability and secure employment after graduation.

Aggie Talk Podcast
Aggie Talk is a resource for students and staff at North Carolina A&T State University. Aggie Talk does not take the place of clinical mental health treatment. This podcast is a resource. It is our hope that Aggie Talk introduces new concepts, inspires listeners to pursue professional help if necessary, and to be a catalyst for conversation surrounding mental health. Host Jovan Shumpert, MS, LCMHCA will discuss current events, mental health facts and experiences, and will be joined by colleagues to discuss their areas of expertise. The podcast is available on Spotify and Anchor!

Winter 2022 Extraordinary Opportunities
March 15: Phi Kappa Phi (PKP) Study Abroad Grants. Undergrads with a 3.75+ GPA can earn $1K to study abroad if they are applying for an eligible program since A&T has an active PKP chapter.

DORED Training Event: “DMPTool For Creating Data Management Plans” - March 15

DMPTool is a free, easy to use, template based online tool for creating Data Management Plans. These plans are required by many funding agencies as part of the grant proposal submission process. In this session, attendees will work hands on to create a data management plan for their current funding application. Participants will see the process of creating a data management plan based on a specific funding opportunity.
Participants will learn how to create a data management plan that that meets institutional and funder requirements. By the end of the session, participants will have a usable data management plan, and will have learned the basic functionality of DMP Tool for future grant proposals.

Research Impact: Assessing and Tracking Your Research - March 15

Do you want to know what kind of impact your published research is making in your discipline? Do you want to plan your research trajectory? Looking to publish in the top journals but do not know where to start?   Join Bluford Library online March 15, at 11 a.m. to learn how you can track, analyze, and visualize the impact of your research. We will explore research impact tools that are easy to use, and which provide a variety of options for analyzing your research engagement. These tools also provide opportunities to network with other researchers in your field and identify potential collaborators. Research impact data can also be analyzed on an institutional basis, which can aid campus decision making. (Approximately 60 minutes) Register here. 

Corbett Pool Grand Reopening -March 16Join us at Corbett Sports Center Wednesday, March 16, noon-5 p.m., to celebrate the reopening of the pool. We will have music, refreshments and giveaways for the first 100 visitors. Also, informational tables hosted by Student Center, University Event Center, Campus Recreation Center, Intramural Sports, the City of Greensboro Parks & Recreation, and a host of others will be on-site providing information about what services and amenities are offered, current & future job opportunities, and upcoming events. The pool will be open immediately following the celebration. Bring your swimsuit and towel if you would like to experience the pool with a splash! Normal hours of operation for the pool will be Monday thru Friday, noon to 8 p.m. Weekend hours will be made available at a later date.

"A Night at the Living Museum: A Tour of Black History" - March 17-20

The Theatre Arts Program at A&T will present “A Night at the Living Museum: A Tour of Black History.” Audience members will take a living history tour led by a historical specialist and see living legends come to life whose contributions to society have shaped entertainment, politics, literature and civil rights, directed by Tyler Madden. From Josephine Baker to Rosa Parks and Langston Hughes, courage, strength and the need to make a change are embedded in their stories. This powerful production is celebration of the Black experience at its best.
