Clear Bag Policy for Harrison Auditorium

In an effort to enhance public safety, Harrison Auditorium has modified its security policy by limiting the size and style of bags allowed in the Auditorium.
   
   Approved Bags
   • Clear Tote – Plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12″x6″x12″
   • Plastic Storage Bag – Clear, one (1) gallon, resealable
   • Small Clutch Purse – Approximately the size of a hand with or without a handle or strap. No larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″ with or without a handle or strap. Can be carried separately or within an approved plastic bag.

An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at a gate designated for this purpose. Please limit the number of items you bring to the facility on event days.    
   Prohibited items include, but are not limited to:
   • All purses, bags or containers larger than a small clutch bag
   • Backpacks
   • Binocular case – Binoculars may be worn around the neck
   • Briefcases
   • Camera bags
   • Cinch bags
   • Computer bags
   • Coolers
   • Fanny packs
   • Luggage of any kind
   • Seat Cushions

Spring and Summer 2023 Course Advisement and Registration – Oct. 10-Nov. 28

Advisement for spring and summer 2023 begins on October 10, 2022. Students should contact their faculty advisor to schedule an appointment to discuss courses that should be taken based on their curriculum guide. Students must obtain their alternate pin from their faculty advisor and/or department chairperson.      

Registration begins on Oct. 31. Students are allowed to register based on their earned credit hours. 
   
   Monday, Oct. 31 – Graduate Students and Seniors (90 or more earned credit hours) 
   Tuesday, Nov. 1 – Juniors (60 – 89 earned credit hours) 
   Wednesday, Nov. 2 – Sophomores (30 – 59 earned credit hours) 
   Thursday, Nov. 3 – Freshmen (less than 30 earned credit hours) 

When registering for classes, all students are required to OPT IN or OPT OUT of AggieAlert!, the university’s emergency notification system that sends text messages to your phone in the event of emergencies, life-threatening situations and/or inclement weather. Failure to opt-in or opt-out prior to class registration will result in a hold being placed on student accounts. To prevent an account hold, log into Aggie Access/Aggie Alert and follow the instructions. 

Registration closes on Monday, Nov. 28.

Quality Enhancement Plan Graduate Assistants

During the fall 2022 semester, Quality Enhancement Plan: Toward Enhanced Achievement in Mathematics (QEP: TEAM) graduate assistants are tutoring students enrolled in MATH 101, 102, 103, 104, 110, 111, 112, and 131. The purpose of QEP: TEAM is to improve student success in eight general education mathematics courses. Graduate assistants tutoring program is part of the QEP: TEAM student support initiative.
   
Lovie Matthews tutors in the Bluford Library on the 2nd Floor in Room 5 each week on Monday 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., Wednesday 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 to 6 p.m., Thursday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Friday 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ms. Amel Hamidouche tutors online through Upswing (Upswing Tutoring) each week on Monday 4:30 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Thursday 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 4:30-8:30 p.m.

Introduction to the Center for Advanced Transportation Mobility

Watch A Brief Introduction to Center for Advanced Transportation Mobility (CATM) to learn more about the center and its efforts. Maranda McBride, Ph.D., professor of management and CATM director, explains the research, education, workforce development, and technology activities sponsored by CATM to accomplish the goal of identifying and disseminating solutions that address mobility challenges associated with the movement of both people and goods as well as other critical transportation issues.

The University Writing Center is Open
The University Writing Center, located in the General Classroom Building, Room 309, is currently open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. and Sunday (virtually) from 2-6 p.m.

The UWC assists students with organization, development, audience awareness, sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, citations, and other writing concepts for all types of writing in all classes. Students may schedule an appointment at www.ncat.mywconline.com or may visit the UWC for walk-in assistance.

The UWC assists faculty by providing course-imbedded tutors, delivering presentations, and facilitating workshops. Additionally, writing consultants will visit classrooms to introduce the UWC to students. Faculty and staff should email the UWC at uwc@ncat.edu to request services. They may also call the UWC at 336-285-3531.

North Carolina A&T Baseball Managers
North Carolina A&T baseball team is looking for student managers for the 2022-2023 season. Duties include: on field help during practice and games, helping coaches with office duties, laundry and potential to travel with the team on away trips. COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination/Boosters Available
The A.V. Blount Jr. Student Health Center is available for COVID-19 testing Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

COVID-19 vaccines are also available at the Student Health Center Pharmacy Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 2-4 p.m. daily.

As gas tax that supports a well-functioning transportation system has become unsustainable over the last decade, the Eastern Transportation Coalition, a partnership of 17 states and Washington D.C., needs your help to explore an alternative approach, called a Mileage-Based User Fee (MBUF), where each driver pays for the miles they drive instead of the fuel they buy.

To better understand how an MBUF program could work, the Coalition is conducting a FREE Pilot Program in North Carolina and they want N.C. A&T students, faculty, and staff to join and tell them their perception of MBUF and its impact on our communities. Please see more information and sign up on this link. Counseling Services has partnered with an online service called TogetherAll to provide 24/7 support to students. Students can register with their Aggie email, provide quick demographical information (can also remain anonymous) and in three minutes have access to a counselor at any time. The service also provides mental health resources, peer support communities, creative outlets and more.

Learn STEM Skills and Credentials with Digital Badge Program
N.C. A&T is starting a digital badge program, funded by the National Science Foundation, to enable undergraduate students to increase their STEM skills through mentorship programs, experiential learning activities, research opportunities, scholarships, and more.

The ASETTS program will connect students to researchers, professionals, and alumni from STEM‐related fields currently working in transportation careers and give students extra credentials to increase their marketability and secure employment after graduation.

Jazz Concert with N.C. A&T Students and International Artist Lori Williams - Oct. 24

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University will host a jazz concert featuring acclaimed international musician Lori Williams on Monday, Oct. 24, at 6 p.m. in Harrison Auditorium.

The concert, which is open to the public, is part of this year’s “Greatest Homecoming on Earth” events, and will also highlight N.C. A&T’s Jazz Ensemble, University Choir and other music students. To learn more about Williams, and her residency, visit the website. Note: Harrison Auditorium is now implementing a clear bag policy. 

Aggies Make Homecoming – Oct. 27

The F.D. Bluford Library Makerspace will be hosting “Aggies Make Homecoming,” a t-shirt contest celebrating North Carolina A&T State University Homecoming on Oct. 27, 1-3 p.m. Join us on the second floor of F.D. Bluford Library and receive a free homecoming t-shirt and enjoy light refreshments. Visit F.D. Bluford Library, Oct. 21-Oct. 25 to vote for your favorite designs.

Homecoming Open House Drop-in (In-person) – Oct. 28

The Office of Intercultural Engagement and LGBTA Resource Center will host the Homecoming Open House Drop-in Oct. 28 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. There will be an opportunity to meet with OIE Student Ambassadors and tour the LGBTA Resource Center and the Meditation and Reflection room. Members of other support special interest groups will be available to network with visiting Alumni and share information. Free event! Refreshments, music, and giveaways will be available.

Intramural Sports Tennis Program

Intramural Sports are pleased to announce we now have our tennis program back and running. Please join our tennis club of 10+ players already for competitive play or come join us for open tennis. This is open to all enrolled students regardless of skill or equipment.

The program is Tuesday and Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Please check www.imleagues.com for weekend hours as they may vary. The program will run this semester until Dec. 1.

Ultimate E-Sports Tournament – Nov. 2

Intramural Sports presents as a part of WELLNESS DAY, the Smash Brothers Ultimate E-Sports Tournament taking place Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 4-6 p.m. in the Student Center Game Room. Aggie Family Weekend – Nov. 4-5

Aggie Family Weekend 2022 is a special time for current N.C. A&T students and families to reunite and enjoy fellowship, fun, and Aggie Pride! Registration for N.C. A&T students is $25 and registration for N.C. A&T family members (ages 13 and older) is $50.

Friday, Nov. 4 is the Aggie Family Reunion Kickback from 6-10 p.m. at the Alumni Foundation Event Center. Attendees will receive registration materials with early check-in and enjoy games, music and light refreshments.

Aggie Family Weekend Tailgate: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Ticket Office, to retrieve student game tickets. All guests must be affiliated with a current N.C. A&T student.
