Lot Closures Announcement Career Fair - Sept. 14-15
In preparation for the Career Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 14 to Thursday, Sept. 15, the following parking lots will be closed:

Vehicles must vacate the lot by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. Vehicles not removed by the designated time are subject to towing at the owners expense.

The University Writing Center is Open
The University Writing Center, located in the General Classroom Building, Room 309, is currently open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. and Sunday (virtually) from 2-6 p.m.

The UWC assists students with organization, development, audience awareness, sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, citations, and other writing concepts for all types of writing in all classes. Students may schedule an appointment at www.ncat.mywconline.com or may visit the UWC for walk-in assistance.

The UWC assists faculty by providing course-imbedded tutors, delivering presentations, and facilitating workshops. Additionally, writing consultants will visit classrooms to introduce the UWC to students. Faculty and staff should email the UWC at uwc@ncat.edu to request services. They may also call the UWC at 336-285-3531.

North Carolina A&T Baseball Managers
North Carolina A&T baseball team is looking for student managers for the 2022-2023 season. Duties include: on field help during practice and games, helping coaches with office duties, laundry and potential to travel with the team on away trips. COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination/Boosters Available
The A.V. Blount Jr. Student Health Center is available for COVID-19 testing Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

COVID-19 vaccines are also available at the Student Health Center Pharmacy Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 2-4 p.m. daily.

As gas tax that supports a well-functioning transportation system has become unsustainable over the last decade, the Eastern Transportation Coalition, a partnership of 17 states and Washington D.C., needs your help to explore an alternative approach, called a Mileage-Based User Fee (MBUF), where each driver pays for the miles they drive instead of the fuel they buy.

To better understand how an MBUF program could work, the Coalition is conducting a FREE Pilot Program in North Carolina and they want N.C. A&T students, faculty, and staff to join and tell them their perception of MBUF and its impact on our communities. Please see more information and sign up on this link. Counseling Services has partnered with an online service called TogetherAll to provide 24/7 support to students. Students can register with their Aggie email, provide quick demographical information (can also remain anonymous) and in three minutes have access to a counselor at any time. The service also provides mental health resources, peer support communities, creative outlets and more.

Learn STEM Skills and Credentials with Digital Badge Program
N.C. A&T is starting a digital badge program, funded by the National Science Foundation, to enable undergraduate students to increase their STEM skills through mentorship programs, experiential learning activities, research opportunities, scholarships, and more.

The ASETTS program will connect students to researchers, professionals, and alumni from STEM‐related fields currently working in transportation careers and give students extra credentials to increase their marketability and secure employment after graduation.

Citation Management Using RefWorks – Sept. 13
This workshop will be held Sept. 13 at 11 a.m. and will last approximately 60 minutes. With ProQuest’s RefWorks citation management software, students, faculty, staff and other members of the N.C. A&T community will learn how this cloud-based application can reduce the time and effort needed to produce a reference list and/or place proper in-text citations in a paper for a class assignment, master’s thesis, Ph.D. dissertation, journal article, and/or grant proposal. Users do NOT need to download or install any software, although there are plugins available for the RefWorks Citation Manager functions in Word and Google Docs. Users only need to create an account and then login here using their A&T email information.

Annual Fall Career Fair (In-Person) – Sept. 14
The Office of Career Services at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University will host its 48th Annual Career Awareness Fair in-person on Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. The format of this activity will enable employers to brand their organization, speak with students of all academic disciplines regarding internship, co-op, and full-time career opportunities, as well as strengthen university partnerships.

The African American Agricultural Diaspora: The Legacy of the New Farmers of America – Sept. 14

Dr. Antoine Alston, Ms. Netta Cox, M.S., M.L.S. and Dr. Dexter Wakefield will discuss their new book, "Legacy of New Farmers of America," with Ms. Joanie Chavis associate professor and Head of Research, Instructional and Engagement Services at F.D. Bluford Library. Their conversation will explore the NFA, a Black youth organization founded in 1935 to promote vocational agriculture education in public schools throughout the South and teach farming skills, leadership and citizenship values to young Black males.

Copyright and Fair Use Workshop – Sept. 15
Join Bluford Library to learn the basics for copyright, fair use rules and user rights in general on Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. for approximately 60 minutes. Let us help you determine if works are public domain or open-source, and help with plagiarism vs. citing. With all the information available, you need to know what’s right and what’s wrong in the world of copyright. You tell us whether your use is for research, teaching and/or performing, and we will help you find appropriate resources to protect you and the university. This interactive workshop will help you navigate current legislation and common practices to avoid plagiarism and/or infringement situations that can put us all at risk. Register here.

Constitution Day Program – Sept. 19
The Department of History and Political Science will commemorate Constitution Day 2022 on Monday September 19 at 6 p.m. at North Carolina A&T State University in the Academic Classroom Building Room 108.
   
All colleges and universities that receive federal funding are mandated to recognize the United States Constitution on or near September 17th (36 USC §106 as amended). Since 2005 NC A & T State University, has transformed that little-known federal mandate into an opportunity to reflect on our government, our liberties, and our obligations as citizens in this democracy.
   
This year the Department of History and Political Science at North Carolina A&T in collaboration with Common Cause, a nonpartisan, grassroots organization dedicated to upholding the core values of American democracy will host a voting simulation event. This event is designed to allow students and the greater Greensboro community to explore and discover the connection between the U.S. Constitution and voting as one of the most fundamental democratic activities in our nation.

The purpose of this activity is to allow participants to learn firsthand about their voting rights, and how the U.S. Constitution and other legislation have attempted to address them.

Digital/E-Portfolios – Sept. 20
This workshop will meet at 11 a.m. and provide an overview of the different types e-portfolios in higher education, and will discuss the applicability of e-portfolio use in a classroom setting, whether face2face or virtual. E-portfolios are used in many academic settings, and creating an e-portfolio is particularly useful for students in a variety of ways. E-portfolios can be a personal tool for storing, organizing, reflecting on and sharing items or artifacts that represent your learning. Students can include items such as documents, graphics, audio files, videos, presentations, and course work to demonstrate skills in certain areas. The Wix platform will be highlighted during this workshop series and supplemental digital tools will be used and discussed as well. Register here.

Spiritual Enlightenment and Community Partners Fair – Sept. 21
The Office of Intercultural Engagement and The Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement will host its annual fall campus-wide Spiritual Enlightenment and Community Partners Fair on September 21 in the Academic Quad outside of the Student Center from 11 am - 2 pm. The fair is free and open to the campus community. Learn about local spiritual and community organizations that will help to empower spiritual, religious, and civic expression.

Creating and Maintaining a Research Identity – Sept. 22
Google Me: Creating and Managing A Research Identity If someone "Googled" you to learn more about your research and expertise, will they get a clear picture of your research impact? If you are not sure or just beginning to build your research reputation, this workshop will help provide some insight on the importance, benefits, and practical steps for creating and maintaining a strong research identity.
