The Office of International Affairs will host weekly study abroad information sessions to give students pertinent information on what's needed to study abroad. The following are the dates and times of the spring 2022 information sessions. All information sessions are virtual, and students can find the information on the International Affairs website, and scan the QR Code on the website to sign-up for a session.

Student Symposium Call for Proposals -deadline March 11
A&T students are invited to submit proposals for presentation that examine the 2022 Student Symposium's theme, Critical Race Theory. Critical Race Theory is a theory that examines how race and racism impact social, political, economic, and cultural discourses. This year's Student Symposium offers an opportunity to undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines at the university to present short papers on topics related to the symposium's theme in a formal setting to students, faculty and other interested participants. It is open to all A&T students. The Symposium is sponsored by the Student Success Committee.
What to present: Research, poems, spoken word, as well as any creative effort.
Your proposal should include the following:
1. Tentative title of your presentation
2. 200-250 word description, including information on the topic, tentative thesis statement, reasons supporting your position.
3. Presentation Type (e.g. 10-minute individual presentation or 20-minute group of no more than three people)
4. Technology required (e.g. presentation software, audio/visual, etc.)

Tuition Assistance Transition

N.C. A&T will host the annual Feb One Sit-In Anniversary Celebration, Tuesday, Feb. 1, beginning at 8 a.m. The event will be livestreamed via the North Carolina A&T Facebook page. The guest speaker will be NC Supreme Court Associate Justice Anita Earls. View live here.

Grad Student Support Group. Come connect with other graduate students to gain support and build community at NCAT. Barbershop Talk: Building Systems to Support Men of Color. Barbershops have traditionally been a safe space for men to fellowship. The group will serve as a place to support Men of Color in their unique experiences. Counseling Services is hosting a weekly virtual support group on Wednesdays at from 4-4:30 p.m.

Counseling Services Presents...DBT 101: Healthy Coping Group. The group will be virtual and take place on Thursdays through March 3, from 1-2 p.m. The group will assist with the following: increase ability to tolerate distress, regulate emotions and engage effectively in relationships.

These are both fully funded two-year scholarships with paid summer internships for second-year Aggie undergraduates in eligible disciplines related to the mission of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Eligible returning undergraduate students with a 3.2+ GPA and an interest in pursuing a Ph.D. or M.D.-Ph.D. in the sciences are encouraged to apply. This fully funded program can help you conduct hands-on research in the labs all across the U.S. and in Asia alongside top faculty, participate in seminars and networking events, and take part in symposia with their peers and leading scientists.

The UPD Citizens Police Academy is a seven-week program designed to give participants a working knowledge of the University Police Department. It consists of a series of in-person classes, discussions and activities held once a week on Tuesday evenings from 6-9 p.m.
Participants must be 18 years of age or older and a student/employee of N.C. A&T State University. The application deadline is Feb. 7, at 5 p.m.

The Text-in-Community Committee would like to hear from students, faculty and staff about the books it should consider for selection for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 academic years. Nominations from all disciplines are encouraged. Send nominations to committee chair, Beverly Grier (bcgrier@ncat.edu), by 5 p.m. on Feb. 15. Include the following information: author’s name, full book title, and a paragraph explaining why your book nomination should be selected.

 Dr. Soonok An and Dr. Chiquita Welch-Brewer in the social work program are inviting A&T undergraduate students to completing a 15-minute online survey that explores undergraduate college students’ attitudes regarding and experiences with healthy relationships and intimate partner/dating violence. To be eligible, you must be:
   • 18 years or older
   • An undergraduate student enrolled at NCAT
   • Have had a romantic relationship in your lifetime
   • Not experiencing acute emotional distress related to dating
   violence.
   • The topic of dating violence does not cause distress or an
   adverse emotional response.
   Participants can enter a raffle to win:
   • A twenty $20 gift card

N.C. A&T has transitioned from EndNote to RefWorks. Students, faculty and staff will learn how to export your library's PDFs and/or citations from EndNote and import them into the new RefWorks citation management tool. Users will need to create an account in RefWorks. Register for this virtual workshop here.

With ProQuest’s RefWorks citation management software, students, faculty, staff, and other members of the N.C. A&T community will learn how this cloud-based application can reduce the time and effort needed to produce a reference list and/or place proper in-text citations in a paper for a class assignment, Master's Thesis, Ph.D. Dissertation, journal article, and/or grant proposal. The Office of Intercultural Engagement and the Office of Counseling Services will host a virtual Safe Zone Ally Development Refresher Training from 10 – 11 a.m. Safe Zone Ally Development Refresher Trainings are open to faculty/staff and students that have previously completed a Safe Zone Training session. Safe Zone Ally Development Trainings emphasize on providing information that is relevant to promoting a healthy and safe campus community by creating allies.
