N.C. A&T Human Rights Medal - Call for Nominations

Nominations are open for Human Rights Medal. The award is presented to an individual who has had a positive impact on correcting social injustices and other humanitarian activities. The winner will be notified in December and will be invited to accept the award at the Annual Sit-In Breakfast marking the anniversary of the N.C. A&T Sit-In Movement. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022. The deadline for nominations is Monday, Dec. 6, 2021. COVID-19 Vaccination Booster Doses
North Carolina A&T is excited to announce that we are now offering booster doses for faculty, staff and students who received any of the available vaccines. To strengthen and extend protections against severe illness, North Carolinians who have been fully vaccinated with the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines may now be eligible to receive a booster dose. Additionally, individuals are now able to receive any brand of COVID-19 vaccine for their booster shot. Some people may have a preference for the vaccine type they originally received, and others may prefer to get a different booster. Sign up using the link here.

You may be eligible for a booster if: 

  • You are 18 or older
  • Your second/final dose was more than SIX months ago for Pfizer and Moderna
  • You received your Johnson & Johnson vaccine more than TWO months ago

And you meet the additional recommendations below: 

  • Johnson & Johnson

It is recommended that anyone 18 or older who was vaccinated more than TWO months ago with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine receive a booster dose.  

Moderna and Pfizer

  • Boosters have been authorized and recommended for individuals who are at high risk for serious illness or exposure. You are eligible if you received the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine and ONE of the following is true: 
    • You are 65 or older, or
    • You live or work in a nursing home or long-term care residential facility, or 
    • You have a medical condition that puts you at high risk for severe illness (e.g., immunocompromised conditions, obesity, asthma, heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes), or 
    • You work in a high-risk profession, meaning you come into contact with a lot of people, and you don’t know their vaccination status (e.g., health care workers, first responders, teachers, food processing workers, retail and restaurant workers and public transportation workers), or 
    • You live or work in a place where many people live together (e.g., homeless shelters, correctional facilities, migrant farm housing, dormitories or other group living settings in colleges or universities). 

N.C. A&T, in partnership with Cone Health, will also be offering Pfizer vaccines for ages 5-11 starting this month (November). If you or someone you know is interested, please sign up here through Cone Health. Vaccines will be offered in the Alumni-Foundation Event Center on campus.

University Police Department Satisfaction Survey
In order to ensure that the N.C. A&T State University Police Department is providing the service our community wants and deserves, we ask you to evaluate us by completing a brief survey by Nov. 30. Food Delivery Now Available on Campus

A&T and Sodexo have partnered with Starship Technologies to provide food delivery service on via autonomous robots. The on-demand robots will deliver from Qdoba, 1891 Bistro and Paavo's Pizza. Visit starship-ncat.com to download the app and start your order!

Flu Vaccine Available at Student Health Center
The Student Health Center is now offering the flu shot for this upcoming winter months! We have received our first shipment of 100 doses. Please come by or schedule an appointment with the Student Health Center during clinic and pharmacy business hours, 8 a.m.-7 p.m. The Student Health Center will be receiving more flu vaccines later in the month.
Please be advised that upon receiving the shot your insurance will be billed.

Learn STEM Skills and Credentials with Digital Badge Program
N.C. A&T is starting a digital badge program, funded by the National Science Foundation, to enable undergraduate students to increase their STEM skills through mentorship programs, experiential learning activities, research opportunities, scholarships, and more. The ASETTS program will connect students to researchers, professionals, and alumni from STEM‐related fields currently working in transportation careers and give students extra credentials to increase their marketability and secure employment after graduation.

Chancellor’s Speaker Series "Mind Over Matter" - Nov. 16
The first Chancellor's Speaker Series for the 2021-22 academic year, “Mind over Matter,” will be Tuesday, Nov. 16, 6 p.m., in Harrison Auditorium. Track and field Olympic medalist and world champion Allyson Felix will discuss the power of a healthy and strong mind, overcoming adversity and brand building, moderated by N.C. A&T alumnus and Oscar-wining producer Terrence J (Terrence Jenkins) ’04.

The speaker series is free and open to the public. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis at the University Ticket Office. Masks will be required and all attendees must provide either proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test within the previous 72 hours of the event date. A valid ID must accompany either option. Failure to comply will result in the attendee being refused entry to the event.

CEd Celebrates American Education Week With Activities and Speaker Series

The College of Education will celebrate American Education Week Nov. 15 – 19. The college will celebrate A&T faculty, students and community partners with College of Education Equity, Access, and Advocacy Awards. Additionally, as a culminating event the college will host world renown scholar Dr. Cynthia Dillard, as the inaugural speaker for the College of Education Dean’s Equity, Access, and Advocacy Speaker Series. The conversation, “The Spirit of our work: Black Teachers (Re)Member,” will take place Friday, Nov. 19, 4 p.m., Proctor Hall 160. This will be Dr. Dillard’s book launch and first stop on her national book tour. A reception and book signing will follow the lecture in the Proctor Hall lobby.

National Transgender Awareness Week 2021: Famous Transgender People Exhibit

In recognition of National Transgender Awareness Week 2021, join the Office of Intercultural Engagement and the LGBTA Resource Center for a Famous Transgender People Exhibit. A reception will be held for the exhibit kickoff on Nov. 15 from 4-6 p.m. in the Student Center, Room 222. Following the kickoff, the exhibit will be viewable in the Student Center, Room 213 Tuesday, Nov. 16  through Friday, Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The Soul of Christmas: A Holiday Musical Revue
The Soul of Christmas is a finger snapping, foot tapping, hand clapping holiday musical for the whole family. Directed and conceived by Gregory J. Horton, this high-energy production is destined to become the holiday gift that keeps on giving. Performances will be held at Paul Robeson Theatre on the campus of N.C. A&T State University, for tickets call 336-334-7749 or visit www.ncataggies.com. Seating will be limited to practice social distancing and masks are required for audiences and all front of house staff.

A Talk by Bryan Stevenson, author of 'Just Mercy' - Nov. 17
The Text-in Community Program is pleased to announce a virtual presentation by Bryan Stevenson, author of this year’s text, "Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption." Join us on Wednesday, Nov.17, 5-6:15 p.m., for a talk by Stevenson on race, poverty and the criminal justice system in the U.S. Stevenson is the founder of the Equal Justice Initiative which works to end mass incarceration and excessive punishments and challenge racial and economic injustice. HBCU-UP DSA Project, NCAT EO Truman Scholarship LOR Writer Workshop - Nov. 19

Virtual Safe Zone Ally Development Trainings

A virtual Safe Zone Ally Development Training session will take place on Nov. 30 and Dec. 3 . Both training sessions will start at 10 a.m. via Zoom. Safe Zone Trainings emphasize on providing information that is relevant to promoting a healthy and safe campus community by creating allies.
