AggieAlert! Account Holds

When registering for classes, all students are required to OPT IN or OPT OUT of AggieAlert!, the university’s emergency notification system that sends text messages to your phone in the event of emergencies, life-threatening situations and/or inclement weather. Failure to opt-in or opt-out prior to class registration will result in a hold being placed on student accounts. To prevent an account hold, log into Aggie Access / Aggie Alert and follow the instructions. The registration period for fall and summer 2022 classes is April 4–25.

Student Honors Convocation - April 13
The Student Honors Convocation will be held Wednesday, April 13, at 10 a.m., in the Richard B. Harrison Auditorium. The purpose of this ceremony is to acknowledge undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher. Several of our students will serve as our speakers, including senior mechanical engineering major, Imani Caldwell, as the keynote speaker and our 2021-22 Aggie Poet Laureate, Erykah Drone.

North Carolina A&T State University holds all its students in high esteem and takes pride in their accomplishments. Classes are suspended from 10 a.m. until noon, to allow all students (regardless of their GPA) and the university community to attend.

Aggie Summer Scholarships

Aggie Summer Scholarships are available for students enrolled in a degree-seeking program and register for Summer Session I or II by April 25. The Scholarship covers tuition and fees only, up to six credit hours (not to exceed the cost of attendance) with no application required. Students may view their award via Aggie Access Online, beginning April 19. Awards are processed weekly until funding is exhausted. 

Nominations Open for Community Engagement Awards

Annual community engagement awards reflect the impactful research, partnerships, teaching and learning that is being conducted within, and in partnership with, the university.
Please nominate yourself or a colleague for the Community Engaged Teaching Award and/or the Community Engaged Research Award by Tuesday, April 12. Please also share any nominations for the Community Partnership Award by the same deadline.
Nominations may be submitted here until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, by following the Qualtrics link provided. A text version of the application may also be requested by sending an email to Lonnie Cockerham at llcocker@ncat.edu.

Lot Closure for Aggie Fest

In preparation for Aggie Fest Activities, Lot A3 (Truist Stadium) will be closed Thursday, April 14, 2022. Vehicles must vacate the lot by 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13. Vehicles not removed by the designated time are subject to towing at the owner's expense.
Alternative parking for General Permit holders includes:

Sullivan Street Closure

In preparation for the SUAB Block Party on Thursday, April 14, Sullivan Street will be temporarily closed to traffic from Benbow to the intersection of Lindsay Street at noon. Faculty, staff and students who drive to campus should plan accordingly.
The Aggie Shuttle stops on Sullivan Street (near Barnes Hall), and Student Center will not be in service due to the street closure. The Passio Go Shuttle tracking app will be updated to show the new route for that afternoons shuttle stops. Thank you for your cooperation and support.

The university's pool, located in Corbett Sports Center, is now open. Recreational Swim is Monday – Friday, noon to 8 p.m.

COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination/Boosters Available

Testing is easy and free for students and employees, available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Alumni Foundation Event Center, next door to the Student Health Center. Vaccination and booster shots are also free and available at the Alumni Foundation Event Center and the Student Health Center Pharmacy. 

Flu Vaccine Available

The Student Health Center is now offering the flu shot for this upcoming winter months! Please come by the Student Health Center during our current business hours.

Summer/Fall 2022 Course Advisement and Registration - begins March 14

Advisement for summer/fall 2022 begins on March 14. Students should contact their faculty advisor to schedule an appointment to discuss courses they should take based on your curriculum guide. Alternate pins are to be obtained from faculty advisor and/or department chairperson.
Registration begins on April 4 until April 25. Students can begin registering for classes based on their earned hours.
Monday, April 4 – Graduate Students and Seniors (90 or more earned credit hours)
Tuesday, April 5 – Juniors (60 – 89 earned credit hours)
Wednesday, April 6 – Sophomores (30 – 59 earned credit hours)
Thursday, April 7 – Freshmen (less than 30 earned credit hours)

Vote for Text-in-Community Book for 2022-2023

The Text-in-Community Committee invites you to vote for one the following seven books that were nominated for the 2022-2023 year. Each book meets Text-in-Community's goals of addressing national or international issues that (1) take an interdisciplinary approach to problems or challenges, (2) are part of conversations taking place at the national level, (3) would broaden and deepen interactions between students, faculty, staff, and greater Greensboro community members, and (4) provide opportunities for creative programming during the academic year. NSF International Research Experience in Botswana – Deadline April 15
Selected IRES students will work alongside research mentors from N.C. A&T, Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) and Appalachian State University to conduct research in: Geophysics and seismology, atmospheric Physics/Chemistry and air quality using field measurements.   Eligibility:

   Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

  • Have completed at least six semesters of education with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
  • All must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
  • Must already have valid passport
  • Graduate standing is preferable or senior undergraduate

University Space Planning Committee Survey

The University Space Planning Committee welcomes your feedback regarding a potential addition to our campus. As N.C. A&T continues to improve our spaces on campus, we are committed to providing spaces that accommodate a diverse set of needs. In this regard, we are exploring lactation rooms to be used by students, faculty and staff with infants. A lactation space is a private, hygienic space for nursing mothers and infants. Study Abroad Information Sessions Schedule

The Office of International Affairs will host weekly study abroad information sessions to give students pertinent information on what's needed to study abroad. The following are the dates and times of the spring 2022 information sessions. All information sessions are virtual, and students can find the information on the International Affairs website, and scan the QR Code on the website to sign-up for a session.

Volunteers Needed for Blood Pressure Research Study to Begin April

Do you have high blood pressure and you are taking three or more blood
pressure medications? You may be eligible for an 8-week study on stress
management. You may qualify if you identify as African American/Black; are being treated with three or more blood pressure medications; and/or are between 18 and 90+ years old.
Participation involves attending a stress management class for 1.5 hours a week for 8-weeks and a 4-hour silent retreat; keeping a weekly log of blood pressure; and completing a 1-hour group interview about the stress management program at the end of the eight weeks. DBT 101: Healthy Coping - Thursdays

Counseling Services Presents...DBT 101: Healthy Coping Group. The group will be virtual and take place on Thursdays through March 3, from 1-2 p.m. The group will assist with the following: increase ability to tolerate distress, regulate emotions and engage effectively in relationships.

Clinical Study Volunteers Needed
The Center of Excellence in Post Harvest Technologies located at the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis is looking for volunteers to participate in a clinical study. We are investigating how food plays an important part in our health and how the food is broken down after being eaten. You may qualify if your BMI is between 18-25 or 30-40, you are 18-65 years of age, and you are of African American decent. Participation involves completing a 5-day food diary and providing one stool sample collection. Volunteers Needed to Participate in the Helping Undergraduates Grow in Relationships Online Survey Research Study
Dr. Soonok An and Dr. Chiquita Welch-Brewer in the social work program are inviting A&T undergraduate students to completing a 15-minute online survey that explores undergraduate college students’ attitudes regarding and experiences with healthy relationships and intimate partner/dating violence. To be eligible, you must be:

   • 18 years or older    • An undergraduate student enrolled at NCAT    • Have had a romantic relationship in your lifetime    • Not experiencing acute emotional distress related to dating    violence.    • The topic of dating violence does not cause distress or an    adverse emotional response.    Participants can enter a raffle to win:    • A twenty $20 gift card

Aggie Talk Podcast
Aggie Talk is a resource for students and staff at North Carolina A&T State University. Aggie Talk does not take the place of clinical mental health treatment. This podcast is a resource. It is our hope that Aggie Talk introduces new concepts, inspires listeners to pursue professional help if necessary, and to be a catalyst for conversation surrounding mental health. Host Jovan Shumpert, MS, LCMHCA will discuss current events, mental health facts and experiences, and will be joined by colleagues to discuss their areas of expertise. Financial Literacy Day - April 19
The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships will be hosting the 6th Annual Financial Literacy Day on Tuesday, April 19, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The event will be held at the Student Center, Deese Ballroom. CEPDAM-SME Student Case Challenge Competition - April 23

The Center of Excellence in Product Design and Advanced Manufacturing (CEPDAM) and Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) are hosting a student case challenge competition on April 23, 2022. Student teams at both undergraduate and graduate levels compete to solve a design and automation case study. Winning teams will receive monetary awards - 1st prize: $400, 2nd prize: $200 and 3rd prize: $150. Student teams register here.

Research Impact: Assessing and Tracking Your Research- April 28

Do you want to know what kind of impact your published research is making in your discipline? Do you want to plan your research trajectory? Looking to publish in the top journals but do not know where to start?   Join Bluford Library to learn how you can track, analyze, and visualize the impact of your research. We will explore research impact tools that are easy to use, and which provide a variety of options for analyzing your research engagement. These tools also provide opportunities to network with other researchers in your field and identify potential collaborators.
