Payroll Shared Services Center –
New ServiceNow Support Process
N.C. A&T State University payroll services is now supported through the UNC System Office Payroll Shared Services Center (PSSC). Effective immediately, employees and supervisors who need payroll assistance should submit their questions and service requests through the PSSC ServiceNow Online Portal, which provides the fastest way to connect with the appropriate payroll specialist. The portal can be accessed online with additional payroll information and resources available on the N.C. A&T University Payroll website. This centralized process is designed to improve response times, provide better tracking and accountability, and ensure payroll requests are efficiently routed and resolved.
Canvas Launches for Fall 2026
Beginning with the Fall 2026 semester, Canvas is now the official learning management system (LMS) for N.C. A&T. Whether you’re teaching a course or preparing to learn, Canvas provides a modern, streamlined environment for accessing course materials, communicating, submitting assignments, participating in discussions, and more. Students, faculty and staff can access Canvas using their OneID credentials.
Students: You will be able to access your Fall 2026 courses on the first day of classes (Aug. 19). The courses will be listed under Courses; All Courses. If you log in prior to the first day of classes and the courses are not published, don't worry. The courses will be published on the first day of classes as scheduled.
Faculty: Your Fall 2026 courses are available to you in Canvas. Be sure to review and update your courses and complete your final preparations before the semester begins.

Submit Your Student Research Opportunities:
Aggie Research Connect
Want a student researcher? Faculty are invited to submit undergraduate or graduate research opportunities through Aggie Research Connect, the Center for Undergraduate Research's (CUGR) new centralized platform for posting projects and connecting students with faculty mentors.
Opportunities may be submitted now through the Faculty Opportunity Submission Form and can include paid, volunteer, work-study eligible, semester-based, summer, or year-round experiences. Through the platform, faculty can describe their project, identify student qualifications, set application deadlines, and receive student applications directly for review. Submitting opportunities helps expand student access to meaningful research experiences across N.C. A&T while giving faculty a streamlined way to recruit interested students.
Know Before You Park
As a reminder, your license plate serves as your virtual parking permit through License Plate Recognition (LPR) when parking in Main Campus surface lots.
To avoid citations, always park with your license plate visible from the driving lane. If you prefer to back into parking spaces and do not have a front license plate, you can purchase a custom NCAT front-facing plate (fax plate) for $12 through the parking portal.
Parking deck permit holders will continue to use a physical hangtag permit, which must be displayed from the rearview mirror while parked in the deck.

Extended Campus Introduces New Conference
Services Request Process
North Carolina A&T State University’s Extended Campus: Continuing Education has implemented a new Conference Services Request Process to support university departments hosting conferences, workshops and special events. Faculty and staff can now select from Registration-Only Services, Full Conference Administrative Support or Custom Support Packages tailored to their event needs. Departments should submit registration-only requests at least 90 days before an event and full conference administrative support requests at least 120 days in advance to allow adequate time for planning and staffing. Faculty and staff are encouraged to visit the Conference Services Request page to review available services, pricing and timelines and submit the online request form.
Fulbright 2027-28 Student Application Now Open
The Fulbright 2027–2028 student application is now open, providing N.C. A&T undergraduates with opportunities to pursue international research, teaching and professional development experiences.
Interested applicants are encouraged to prepare their applications and submit materials for campus review and consideration. The Office of Honors Research will support applicants throughout the process by providing guidance on identifying opportunities, strengthening application materials, and navigating the submission process.

Volunteers Needed for Gut Microbiome Research Study
Researchers at N.C. A&T are seeking volunteers for a study examining the effects of Brewers' Spent Grain (BSG) fiber on the gut microbiome and metabolic health. The study is being conducted by Dr. Hye Won Kang (Department of Family and Consumer Sciences) and Dr. Marc D. Cook (Department of Kinesiology). BSG, derived from barley husks during the brewing process, is a rich source of dietary fiber and is being studied for its potential impact on gut health.
Who Can Participate?
• Adults ages 30-50
• Healthy body condition
• Daily fiber intake of less than 15 grams
What Participants Will Do
• Complete health questionnaires
• Undergo a body composition assessment
• Provide blood and stool samples
• Take a BSG fiber supplement
⚠️ Allergy Alert: Individuals with allergies to wheat, barley or gluten should not participate.
💳 Compensation: Eligible participants will receive a $300 gift card for completing the study.

Inspire the Future: Volunteer with N.C. First Robotics
N.C. A&T serves as the Affiliate Partner for the internationally recognized FIRST® robotics programs —FIRST LEGO League Challenge (FLL Challenge) and FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC). As the regional hub for these initiatives, A&T guides the strategic growth and coordination of both programs, which are managed in the College of Engineering under the leadership of Dr. Kory Bennett, director for Robotics Outreach. Through this partnership, A&T empowers students across North Carolina to engage in hands-on STEM learning and robotics innovation.
Volunteers are essential to creating an exciting and inspiring experience for students as they demonstrate their skills in robotics, teamwork and innovation.

The Office of Honors Research at N.C. A&T is hosting an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) Workshop and Information Session for students interested in pursuing research-based master's or Ph.D. degrees in STEM fields. The session will be held on September 14, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom and will feature Dr. Daniel Rabinovich, Associate Dean of the Joint School of Nanoscience & Nanoengineering, as the presenter. This workshop will provide an overview of the different types of e-portfolios in higher education and will discuss the applicability of e-portfolio use in a classroom setting, whether face-to-face or virtual. E-portfolios are used in many academic settings, and creating an e-portfolio is particularly useful for students in a variety of ways. E-portfolios can be a personal tool for storing, organizing, reflecting on, and sharing items or artifacts that represent your learning. Students can include documents, graphics, audio files, videos, presentations, and coursework to demonstrate skills in certain areas. The Wix platform will be highlighted during this workshop series, and supplemental digital tools will be used and discussed as well.

Taking the time to ensure you have a strong research identity can yield numerous benefits such as providing a sense of focus and direction for your research, demonstrating expertise in your area of research, and helping you to develop a strong network system. Creating an ORCID iD, a unique, open digital identifier, will help you to create and maintain a strong research identity. The ORCID iD also helps funders, publishers, scholarly societies, and other researchers find and distinguish your work from others. This workshop will provide an overview of ORCID, instructions on how to create an ORCID iD, and other practical tips on establishing a strong research identity.

Revising your Proposal: Strategies for Resubmission

This webinar will provide practical guidance for applicants preparing to revise and resubmit to a grant solicitation. It will explore the foundational framework for principal investigators to interpret reviewer feedback, distinguish major concerns from minor suggestions, and strategically strengthen their proposal. This one-hour training session will help grant seekers understand reviewer comments and scores while providing direction on responding to reviewer comments. By the end of the session, attendees will walk away with practical strategies for enhancing their proposal and moving forward with confidence.
Speaker: Paul Tuttle has more than 20 years of experience in research administration and proposal development. He has significant experience supporting faculty directly at Winston-Salem State University, UNC-Greensboro, and N.C. A&T. He excels at providing trainings and helping individuals develop their research funding plans. Tuttle's persuasive writing background has enabled him to help secure more than $175 million in sponsored program and research awards in the last two decades, including but not limited to funding from federal sources such as the Department of Education, the National Science Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health.

This hands-on training session is designed to help faculty and research administrators navigate the proposal development and routing process in InfoEd. Participants will learn how to create a proposal record, enter required proposal information, upload supporting documents, and successfully route proposals for institutional review and approval. The session will also cover common routing issues, internal submission requirements, and best practices for ensuring proposals are complete and ready for submission. This training is ideal for principal investigators, departmental administrators, and anyone involved in preparing and routing sponsored project proposals.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

N.C. A&T Staff Senate announces the 2026 Janet B. Royster (JBR) Memorial Staff Scholarship application is open through Sept. 30. This $1,000 scholarship promotes staff development by providing funding for permanent, full-time, and non-faculty employees of the UNC System to further their educational and career goals. The fund was established in 2011 to recognize and honor the late Janet Royster's leadership and dedication to all UNC employees.

The Office of Honors Research invites eligible students to explore the Barry Goldwater Scholarship, one of the nation's premier undergraduate scholarships for students pursuing research careers in science, engineering, and mathematics.
Students interested in applying are encouraged to complete the Goldwater Scholarship Interest Form by Oct. 1, 2026 to be considered for N.C. A&T's campus nomination process. The scholarship provides up to $7,500 per academic year and recognizes outstanding academic achievement and research potential. Students can learn more and submit the interest form by visiting the application link above.

On Friday, Oct. 16, Veterans Employment Base Camp and Organic Garden will team up with Farmer Veterans Coalition of North Carolina to host a veteran’s agricultural conference. This event will primarily benefit veteran farmers and ranchers but is open to veterans of all eras, active-duty personnel, family members, and caregivers. We are expecting up to 60 Veterans, active duty, family members and caregivers that will need services.

Centennial GHOE Celebration

Since 1926, the North Carolina A&T Homecoming has grown from a beloved celebration into a cultural phenomenon. Known worldwide as the "Greatest Homecoming on Earth," this week-long reunion brings together generations of Aggies to celebrate excellence, heritage and the unshakeable bond of the Blue and Gold. In 2026, we will mark a historic milestone: homecoming's centennial anniversary year! Join us as we honor our past and ignite our future.

Goldwater Summer Research Internship Program
The Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation has launched the new Goldwater Summer Research Internship Program, a national initiative supporting undergraduate students pursuing research careers in science, engineering and mathematics.
The inaugural Summer 2027 program will provide 20 paid research positions in chemistry, computer and information sciences and engineering, engineering, life sciences, and physics and astronomy at research laboratories across the United States. Selected interns will work alongside research teams for a 10-week summer experience and receive $10,500 in financial support. Applications are due Nov. 2, 2026, with award notifications expected by Jan. 15, 2027. Freshmen and sophomores interested in research careers are encouraged to learn more and apply through the program website.

The Living Archives Project: Your Memories, Our History
F.D. Bluford Library’s Living Archives Project is an initiative to preserve the vibrant experiences and shared memories of N.C. A&T. students. Through the collection of student-contributed photographs, the Library aims to document the spirit, creativity, and everyday life of the Aggie community. This living archive ensures that the stories, traditions, and moments that define each generation are captured and preserved as part of the University’s history.

Digital Navigator Program – Ongoing
F.D. Bluford Library has launched a pilot program to expand and support our laptop loans. Students, faculty, and staff can request to work with a digital navigator to support their digital inclusion needs. The Digital Navigators at F.D. Bluford Library can help you: Connect to free and low-cost internet options Access digital literacy skills training Recommend students to our laptop lending program Request an appointment to work with a digital navigator:
You can also call 336-285-4164 to get help filling out this form to make an appointment. Students who receive Pell grants qualify for reduced cost internet through the Affordable Connectivity Plan. We can help these students access this resource.
