Volunteers Needed for Research Study: Effects of Brewers’ Spent Grain on Gut Microbiome

Volunteers between the ages of 30-50 with healthy body conditions and low daily fiber intake (less than 15 g per day) are needed to participate in a research study being conducted by Dr. Hye Won Kang in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (Food and Nutritional Sciences) and Dr. Marc D. Cook in the Department of Kinesiology at N.C. A&T. BSG is the byproduct (barley’s husk) obtained from the brewing industry. BSG contains high amounts of fiber.

This research examines the effects of BSG fiber on changes in gut microbiome as well as changes in metabolic markers in blood and stool of healthy people.

If you are eligible for the study, you will be asked to complete health questionnaires, a body composition test, donate sample(s), and take BSG fiber supplement.

*Allergy Alert: Please do not participate if you are allergic to wheat, barley or gluten.

Your participation will be compensated with a $300 gift card.

The graduation application for Summer and Fall 2026 is now open. You can find the application in Aggie Access and complete the online form. The application fee is $60, non-refundable, so please meet with your advisor before you apply.

Important deadlines:
Summer II graduation application deadline is July 10
Fall graduation application deadline is Sept. 11

Bluford Residence Hall Ribbon Cutting

N.C. A&T will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Bluford Residence Hall on Thursday, July 16, at 9:30 a.m.

The event is free and open to the public.

Bluford Residence Hall, at Bluford and Nocho streets and across from Harrison Auditorium, is N.C. A&T’s 16th on-campus residence hall and its first new dormitory in nearly two decades.

Bluford Residence Hall’s four floors, each with its own full kitchen, have 405 student beds in 66 two- and four-bedroom suites for a total of 94 traditional double rooms, as well as two staff apartments. It includes amenities such as a gaming room, multipurpose room, private courtyard, on-site laundry and retail operations on the first floor and close proximity to academic classrooms, Williams Dining Hall, F.D. Bluford Library and student gathering spots.

The nation’s largest historically Black college or university for 12 consecutive years, A&T recorded 14,407 students enrolled for the spring 2026 semester. About 6,000 students live in on-campus housing.

Deese Advantage Summer Prep Institute is a five-day summer day camp hosted by the Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics at North Carolina A&T State University. Designed for rising high school juniors and seniors, this program focuses on strengthening math, readiness, business awareness, and college success skills.

Students will:

  • Engage in interactive math labs, business-focused learning activities, and personalized instruction using a math assessment platform. Build confidence in math while demonstrating how it applies to real-world business careers such as finance, accounting, analytics, and entrepreneurship.
  • Receive guidance on study skills, time management, and academic expectations to better prepare them for college-level coursework. 
  • Create a personalized learning plan and continued support through a required virtual follow-up during the fall semester, ensuring students remain on track for academic success.

Minority Serving Cyberinfrastructure Consortium

As part of the Minority Serving Cyberinfrastructure Consortium grant project at N.C. A&T, the research team invites the A&T community to complete a brief, anonymous survey to better understand its use of research computing resources and overall cyberinfrastructure needs.Cyberinfrastructure includes computers, software, devices, networks, human skills, and technical expertise. 

The insights gathered will help inform a transformative effort to enhance research capacity, strengthen data scholarship, and promote interdisciplinary collaboration at A&T.

The student portion of this survey was written by your peers, and we hope that you will engage and provide us with your honest feedback. Your participation is completely voluntary; no identifying information will be linked to your survey.

The Career Champions program is a three‑part training series designed to equip faculty and staff with tools to better support students’ career readiness. We currently have 63 certified Career Champions and are aiming to reach 100 by the end of the semester. To support this goal, additional virtual sessions are now available, and each session lasts one hour. While the three parts do not need to be taken consecutively, all must be completed to earn certification. Interested participants can register using the enrollment form.

The Living Archives Project: Your Memories, Our History

F.D. Bluford Library’s Living Archives Project is an initiative to preserve the vibrant experiences and shared memories of N.C. A&T. students. Through the collection of student-contributed photographs, the Library aims to document the spirit, creativity, and everyday life of the Aggie community. This living archive ensures that the stories, traditions, and moments that define each generation are captured and preserved as part of the University’s history.

Coming Fall 2026 – Canvas by Instructure

North Carolina A&T State University will transition to a new learning management system (LMS), Canvas, for the Fall 2026 semester as a replacement for Blackboard. Canvas is widely adopted, integrates with many tools, and supports modern pedagogical features, offering a flexible and user-friendly environment for teaching and learning.
Information sessions for faculty, chairs, and administrative staff are scheduled for November and December 2025. Click here to register. Training will begin January 2026. Visit the Canvas Implementation website for FAQs and more information about the transition.

Digital Navigator Program – Ongoing

F.D. Bluford Library has launched a pilot program to expand and support our laptop loans. Students, faculty, and staff can request to work with a digital navigator to support their digital inclusion needs.    The Digital Navigators at F.D. Bluford Library can help you:    Connect to free and low-cost internet options    Access digital literacy skills training    Recommend students to our laptop lending program    Request an appointment to work with a digital navigator:
