Classes are suspended from 8 a.m. to noon

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University will celebrate the 135th anniversary of its founding and officially install James R. Martin II as the university’s 13th chancellor in a joint ceremony Monday, March 9, 2026, in Corbett Sports Center on campus.

Martin’s installation will celebrate his many accomplishments since taking office in August 2024 and shine a bright light on his vision for the university. A&T will welcome distinguished guests from across the state and nation as we honor Martin and commemorate A&T’s long-venerated Founders Day, marking the date in 1891 when the N.C. General Assembly established the university as the Agricultural and Mechanical College for the Colored Race.

All attendees must abide by Corbett’s clear bag policy, which outlines specific bag size and type limits. The university reserves the right to impose the regulation at its discretion.

A complete guide to the joint ceremony is available online at https://www.ncat.edu/installation/index.php.

Applications are Open for Duke University's
Code+ Summer Program

Experiential Learning for the Next Generation of Technology Leaders
NCShare will again host a project team in Duke University's Code+ program for summer 2026. Applications are now open

Calling all undergraduate students! Apply for Code+, a 10-week immersive summer coding experience on Duke’s campus. Each summer, Code+ brings together undergraduate students, faculty and IT professionals to solve meaningful problems through technology. Over 10 intensive weeks, students work in teams of 4–6 to design and build applications, dashboards, and AI-powered tools that support research, operations, and community initiatives. Many participants enter the program with very limited coding experience — and leave with the confidence to pursue internships, research and careers in technology.

Code+ emphasizes:

  • Real-world, stakeholder-driven projects
  • Exposure to multiple tech stacks
  • Professional skill development
  • Mentorship and peer community

This project-based summer experience is designed for students with no prior tech work experience. Students from NCShare participating institutions may apply only to the designated NCShare project (“Research Efficiency: Gamifying Smarter Compute Use”) and must use the non-Duke student application form.

Open Educational Resources and Course Adopted Texts

Facilitator: Franklin Robinson,fcrobins@ncat.edu, 285-4210

Textbook prices continue to rise with each new edition, making this a great time to consider more affordable options for your courses. Open Educational Resources (OER) and Course Adopted Texts are strong alternatives to traditional textbooks. Research shows that students and faculty who use OER find them comparable in quality to commercial textbooks, and studies confirm that OER can greatly reduce the cost of course materials. Lowering these costs can ease student financial stress and help reduce debt. Bluford Library supports faculty in exploring these alternatives by offering tools, services, and access to a wide range of databases. You can learn how to integrate licensed library eBooks and openly licensed materials into your courses as effective, no-cost or low-cost replacements for traditional textbooks. By exploring these options, you can provide your students with high quality resources that are both accessible and affordable. (Approximately 60 minutes)
