Zoom Video Conferencing Support

Zoom is a web-based collaboration tool that facilitates video conferencing, online meetings, screen sharing, chat, and mobile collaboration.

Upon hiring, N.C. A&T employees receive an invitation via their NCAT email account to activate a licensed Zoom account. Conversely, employee Zoom accounts are deactivated when an employee leaves the University. Student accounts are scheduled to be provisioned via their NCAT Gmail accounts during the spring 2021 semester.

Upgrade your Zoom desktop client now.

Activating Your N.C. A&T Zoom Account

  • Employees, if you have not received an invitation to activate your licensed Zoom account, please contact the ITS Help Desk at helpdesk@ncat.edu or 336-334-7195 or or AggieHelp.
  • When you receive your Zoom account invitation, click on the “activate” button in the email you received from Zoom (no-reply@zoom.us) within 30 days of receipt. On January 19, 2021, N.C. A&T transitioned to Single Sign-on (SSO) using OneID credentials to log into the Zoom web portal at https://ncat.zoom.us. However, employees may continue accessing Zoom using credentials that were previously created for an indeterminate amount of time at https://zoom.us.
  • Once you activate your N.C. A&T Zoom account, either open Outlook calendar or the Zoom desktop client or visit https://ncat.zoom.us to begin creating Zoom meetings. The activation link in the email invitation expires after activation of the account.
  • N.C. A&T licensed Zoom accounts have no meeting time limits and allow 300 participants per meeting. If you are experiencing 40-minute meeting time limits, contact the ITS Help Desk at 336-334-7195 or helpdesk@ncat.edu or AggieHelp.

Zoom Webinars

ITS manages a limited pool of shared Zoom webinar licenses for special N.C. A&T events. Webinar accounts are not provisioned to individuals or departments for long-term use. To request a webinar account for a special event, complete and submit the online request form below. Once your request is received, the Zoom Administrator will respond accordingly.

Best Practices and Etiquette

Recording Guidelines

  • Recording storage limitations are not being enforced at this time, but please be advised that this may change in the future. ITS is developing a long-term strategy for the storage and access of Zoom recordings.
  • Disable automatic recording of meetings in your Profile Settings, and click “Record” during the meeting to capture only what is needed.
  • Delete recordings when no longer needed.

Zoom Add-ons / Plug-ins

  • Outlook Calendar Zoom Plug-in: Provides an option in the Outlook desktop and web-based clients on the calendar ribbon to easily add a Zoom meeting to any calendar event. This plug-in has been enabled for all N.C. A&T accounts.
  • Other add-ons / plug-ins: Zoom Marketplace offers both fee-based and free add-ons / plug-ins to increase the functionality of Zoom or integrate with other applications. Currently requests for Zoom add-ons / plug-ins are being denied until which time ITS may test functionality within our enterprise environment and associated costs.

Please report any Zoombombing incidents to InformIT@ncat.edu. Should you need additional assistance with activating, accessing, or using your Zoom account, please contact the Help Desk at 336-334-7195 or helpdesk@ncat.edu or AggieHelp.
