Canvas is Now the University’s Learning Management System
North Carolina A&T State University has transitioned to Canvas as its learning management system (LMS) beginning with the Fall 2026 semester.
Students enrolled in Fall 2026 courses and all courses moving forward should access their courses through Canvas.
Blackboard is no longer the university's active learning management system for new courses. However, Blackboard will remain available for a limited period to support students who need to resolve incomplete grades received prior to Fall 2026.

Access Canvas
Canvas is the university's learning management system beginning with Fall 2026. Students should use Canvas to access their current courses, course materials, assignments, grades, discussions, announcements, and other course activities.
New to Canvas? Visit the Canvas at A&T site for more information and resources to get you started.
Need to Resolve an Incomplete Grade?
If you received an incomplete grade for a course prior to Fall 2026 and need to complete outstanding coursework, you should continue to use Blackboard to access the applicable course materials and assignments. Your instructor will need to contact ITTD to request access to the Blackboard course for you.
Your instructor will provide guidance regarding the work needed to resolve your incomplete grade.
Important: Blackboard should only be used for applicable incomplete coursework from prior semesters. All Fall 2026 courses and courses moving forward are delivered through Canvas.

Can students still access Blackboard?

Where are my previous Blackboard courses?
Previous Blackboard courses are housed in Blackboard but no longer available to students. Courses offered prior to Fall 2026 will not appear in Canvas for students.

Will my Blackboard courses, grades, or assignments automatically transfer to Canvas?
No. Blackboard and Canvas are separate learning management systems. Previous Blackboard course content, grades, assignments, and other course information will not be available in Canvas.

What should I do if I need something from an old Blackboard course?
If you need access to course materials or other information from a previous semester, contact your instructor or academic department. If you are resolving an incomplete grade from before Fall 2026, continue to use Blackboard as directed by your instructor.
Do I need to learn how to use Canvas?
Yes. Students who are new to Canvas are encouraged to complete Passport to Canvas, a self-paced training course designed to help you get started with confidence. Faculty who are new to Canvas are encouraged to complete Growing with Canvas, a self-paced training course to help prepare faculty for success with Canvas.

First, ensure that you are an active student or employee. Then, make sure you are signing in with your OneID credentials. If you continue to experience difficulty accessing Canvas, contact the IT Service Desk for assistance.
