Student Travel FAQs


  • What qualifies as “student travel” under university policy?
    Student travel includes any university-sponsored or university-related travel where undergraduate students leave campus for academic, co-curricular, research, athletic, service-learning, or professional purposes.
  • Do "Graduate Students" need to fill out these required forms?
    Graduate students are considered “university employees” in these instances, so the student travel forms are not required.

  • What forms are required for student travel?
    Required documents include:
    • Travel Manifest (two pages).
    • Academic Standing Chart – Must be submitted to Dean of Student’s Office via Secure Share to (ncatdos@ncat.edu) for clearance to travel. Students with a GPA less than a 2.0 will not be allowed to travel. For more information, see Academic Expectations.
    • Student Code of Conduct and Travel Waiver Forms (signed by each student).
  • Are waivers and student code of conduct forms required for each student, regardless of destination?
    Yes, NC A&T requires signed waivers and student code of conduct forms for each student, regardless of destination.
  • Official copies of travel documents:
    The Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Office and the University Police Department (UPD) maintain a copy of documents for emergency purposes.

  • What transportation methods are allowed for student travel?
    Approved methods often include:
    • University-owned vehicles
    • Rental vehicles through approved vendors
    • Commercial airlines, trains, or buses
