The NC A&T Canvas course templates provide faculty with a consistent foundation for organizing courses and creating a welcoming, easy-to-navigate experience for students. Each template is designed to support a different course structure while providing a starting point for organizing content, establishing course navigation, and presenting important course information.

Faculty can choose from three NC A&T Canvas templates:

  • NCAT Canvas Home Page – Provides a professionally designed course home page that can be used as a starting point for your Canvas course.
  • NCAT Online Course Template – Provides a structured course design to support fully online courses.
  • NCAT Standard Course Template – Provides a flexible course structure for standard course delivery.

Templates can be added to your Canvas course and customized to meet your instructional needs.

Request Forms



Need something beyond your regular Canvas course? Use the appropriate request form to submit a Canvas-related request to ITTD. Faculty can request a practice course for exploring Canvas, an organization site for non-instructional purposes, or a course merge (cross-listing) when multiple course sections need to be combined.

  • Canvas Notebook: Students can highlight content, add notes, and organize important course information directly in Canvas.
  • Learning Mastery Gradebook: Instructors have enhanced tools for viewing and analyzing student mastery data.
  • Custom Navigation Links: Instructors can add helpful links directly to their course navigation menus.
  • SpeedGrader Enhancements: Improved SpeedGrader performance and usability are now available by default.
  • Customizable Student Dashboard: Students will have more flexibility in how they view and organize their Canvas courses.

Accessibility



Accessible course design benefits all learners and helps ensure that students can access, navigate, and engage with course materials. Canvas and related academic technologies provide tools and resources that support accessible teaching and learning.

Faculty should incorporate accessibility into course development from the beginning rather than treating it as a final step. In addition, by April 26, 2027, all government websites, third-party services, and digital course content must meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards.
