Tools Machinery Scams

The intent of this scam targeting employees is to mislead employees into believing the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources and Chief Human Resources is announcing a tool giveaway on behalf of an employee.  An employee is ask for personal information and for money to send the tools to you which is a scam. 

 

Red Flags To Look For: 


  • External email domains (is not from @ncat.edu) (# 2)

  • Email has Use Caution. This message is from outside N.C. A&T tag. (applies to employee email only)  (# 3)

  • Mismatched sender/email addressees (# 10)

  • Text or call a non-university number (# 14)

  •  Advertising for personal use violates the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) (# 15)
