File Share Scams

The intent of this file share scam targeting employees is to mislead employees into believing the Provost sent the file.  Clicking on links from scammers can lead to a form for you to input your sensitive information or download and install malicious software. 

 

Red Flags To Look For: 

 

  • Unknown/impersonated sender (# 1)

  • External email domains (is not from @ncat.edu) (# 2)

  • Email has Use Caution. This message is from outside N.C. A&T tag. (applies to employee email only)  (# 3)

  • Unexpected attachments/catchy titles (# 8)

  • Mismatched sender/email addressees (# 10)
