Musical Instruments and Multimedia Scams

The intent of this scam targeting employees is to trick employees into engaging in conversations about equipment that doesn't exist. Engaging with scammers can lead to you being swindled out of fake shipping fees and other information. 

 

Red Flags To Look For: 

 

  • Unknown/impersonated sender (# 1)

  • Email has Use Caution. This message is from outside N.C. A&T tag. (applies to employee email only)  (# 3)

  • Urgent or emotional language; time sensitive (# 4)

  • You're asked to pay for office supplies, equipment, shipping, etc. (# 6)

  • Sounds too good to be true (# 12)

  • Advertising for personal use violates the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) (# 15)

However, do note that you will be responsible for the delivery fees for the item. You can send your address and shipping fee to Mrs. Lu, and she will consult her movers to deliver the items to your listed address.
