Cybersecurity Awareness and Beyond
U R THE KEY 2 Security
Breaches and cyberattacks are the norm in today's cyber landscape. According to the FBl's 2023 Internet Crime Report, the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) received over 880,000 complaints with at least $12.5 billion in losses. Over 298,000 of those complaints were related to phishing/spoofing with more than $18.7 million in losses.
Information Technology Services (ITS) and the Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity Research, Education and Outreach (CREO) are partnering together again to raise cybersecurity awareness. Join ITS and CREO for FREE events including CREO cybersecurity facility tours; hands-on digital forensics, ethical hacking, and ethical hacking training; election security, drone security, and artificial intelligence (AI); cyber games; and prizes. All events are open to N.C. A&T students and employees. Select events are open to the public.
U R THE KEY 2 SECURITY is about all of us doing our part to DETECT scams and PROTECT university and personal digital assets from potential cyber threats.

Phishing Simulation Program For Employees
Employees are persistent targets of phishing attacks. Cybercriminals actively use social engineering tactics to trick employees into revealing sensitive information and/or downloading malware which leads to compromised university data, applications, and/or systems.
The Information Security Office (ISO) within the Division of Information Technology Services (ITS) is launching a phishing simulation program for employees to promote cybersecurity awareness and educate employees on how to detect phishing threats. Unannounced phishing emails will be sent to employees periodically. With simulated phishing, entering data and clicking on links/attachments are harmless. Data is not saved and malware is not downloaded. If an employee mistakenly responds to a simulated phish, a message will display with guidance on how to detect a phish.

Quantum Cryptography Seminar
As quantum computing continues to advance, the need to optimize algorithms for faster and more efficient solutions becomes increasingly critical. Quantum computers, with their ability to solve complex problems exponentially faster than classical computers, pose both opportunities and challenges. One major concern is the threat quantum computing poses to current cryptographic systems, which rely on classical algorithms that may be easily broken by quantum computers, leading to significant cybersecurity risks.
In this workshop, we will explore the basics of quantum computing and delve into key quantum algorithms that outperform classical ones. We will also discuss the implications of these advancements for data security and examine how quantum cryptography can protect sensitive information by offering faster, more secure solutions in response to emerging quantum threats.
Thursday, October 31th 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Participation: N.C. A&T students and employees; open to the public
