The Resurgent Is Coming to East Greensboro

EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Friday, Nov. 19, 2021) -- Welcome to The Resurgent – a $60 million mixed-use, multi-phase development designed to enliven East Greensboro. Phase I will include 70 new apartments, ground-floor shops from local retail and restaurants, Class A office space and a parking deck situated on a 7.15-acre site and totaling more than 275,000 square feet.

Location, Location, Location
Aptly named The Resurgent, this development is designed to revitalize the area around its location at the southeast corner of East Market Street and Benbow Road and to bring new life to the area directly across from the North Carolina A&T State University campus.

An artist's rendering for the Resurgent development. The Resurgent will provide area residents, faculty and students with the amenities noted above, as well as green space to enjoy. The Resurgent is conveniently located within a 3-minute drive or 10-minute walk of downtown Greensboro.

Live, Work, Play
The apartment community -- designed for young professionals, including academics and downtown workers -- will include studios, one- and two-bedroom units, with features in some residences such as wrap-around balconies.

In addition, there will be a residential common, elevated courtyard and pool, a rooftop terrace, club room, gym, dog spa and bike storage. Sustainability will be a notable priority throughout the development, with energy-efficient mechanical systems, LED lighting, water-saving fixtures, rainwater management, recycling options and more.

Sparking Innovation

Budding innovators will have the ability to access the new East Greensboro Entrepreneurial Hub in the Class A office building. This innovation center and incubator will help creators nurture their plans from brand-new ideas into successful startups.

Following a series of public meetings that offered area residents a chance to see, hear about and engage in dialogue on plans for The Resurgent, the N.C. A&T Real Estate Foundation, the project developer, filed a rezoning request for the property site with the Zoning Review Board on Nov. 5. If zoning is approved, construction could begin in July 2022, with the development’s first phase opening by the end of 2023.

Resurgent project team members include J.C. Waller & Associates, PC, BWC Consulting, Clark Nexsen, CT Wilson Construction and CBRE Triad.

East Market Street Mixed Use Project Public Meeting – Webinar: Oct. 11

Public Meetings Scheduled for Market Street Mixed-Use Project

EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Sept. 22, 2021) -- The North Carolina A&T Real Estate Foundation is committed to bringing positive economic development and opportunity to East Greensboro. Toward that end, East Greensboro neighbors are invited to public hearings in October 2021 at which we will present plans on a new construction project that we are planning for the southeast corner of E. Market Street and Benbow Road.

This mixed-use development will include new apartments, retail shops, office space and a parking deck spread across nearly 7.15 acres. It will bring attractive new housing and living-wage jobs to what we know has been an underserved part of the city. We want this to be a project with positive, abiding benefits on this area, both for the university and our surrounding neighbors.

Please review the flyer below, then register here or via one of the QR codes in the flyer to join us for one of the three coming hearings, which will serve as precursors to our rezoning request for this property. Choose whichever one suits your needs -- in person, online or hybrid. You will have opportunities to see the plans in their entirety and to ask any questions you may have of project organizers.
