Convenience Fee FAQs
NC A&T charges a convenience fee of 2.95% for all credit/debit card payments made to student accounts. The minimum charge is $3.00.
Why does NC A&T charge a convenience fee for processing credit card payments?
Historically, credit card processing costs were absorbed by the University. As a result of the recent budget reductions, the University will no longer be able to absorb these costs and will charge a convenience fee to defray these costs rather than divert limited remaining resources from instructional activities. Since these fees represent a cost directly related to an individual payment, we pass them along to the individual payer rather than treating it as a general cost to be supported by all students. A convenience fee only applies to payments made to student accounts. Application fees and deposits are not affected by this change.
How was the 2.95% convenience fee determined?
To cover the operating costs associated with processing credit card payments and with maintaining its information and technology infrastructure, TouchNet charges a 2.95% non-refundable fee ($3.00 minimum) on credit card transactions processed. The percentage rate for the convenience fee was determined by TouchNet as part of the outsourcing agreement for services and approved by the State of North Carolina Office of State Budget and Management.
Is the convenience fee refundable?
No.
What credit cards do you accept?
American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and VISA credit cards.
What are the “Free” payment options?
• Online using E-Check – You will be prompted to enter a valid bank routing and account number and to authorize the payment from the checking or savings account associated with the banking information provided.
• By mail – Print the E-Bill statement and mail payment to NC A&T, ATTN: Treasurer’s Office, 1601 E. Market St., Greensboro, NC 27411. Please allow 5-6 days for mail delivery. All payments must include the student's name and ID number to ensure correct and timely processing.
• In person – Pay by cash, check or money order at the Treasurer’s Office located in the Dowdy Building.
Are other colleges and Universities within the University of North Carolina system making similar changes?
Yes. A large number of UNC System schools have elected to make these changes in response to on-going budget cuts from the State of North Carolina. We regret any inconvenience that this change may cause.
